A major topic in our curriculum is biological molecules and reaction rates. The molecular models will give students an appreciation regarding the structure, function, and differences in biological molecules. The reagents will be used to demonstrate the different factors influencing the reaction rates of biological molecules within the human body and the effects of catalysts in these reactions. The simplified model used is the Landolt method for the iodine clock reaction. Using this method, students can investigate factors, in a hands-on activity, governing reaction rates such as temperature, concentration, volume, and catalysts.
