  • Starting the Year Off on the "Write" Foot

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Thanks again for donating to this project. Having all of these materials to start off the school year has made it a huge success. The students absolutely love the new supply caddys. They love that they can take the supplies they need and move them closer to them and not have to constantly reach in the middle of the tables. It has also been helpful in keeping the supplies organized. Students as young as kindergarten are able.to put back the materials they use in an organized manner. They also love having all the crayon colors and colored pencils. The sharpener has also been great to have as well. So needless to say this project has been very helpful and it's thanks to donors like you!”

Thank you so much for donating to this project. As we begin a new school year the students were very excited to welcome back our animal "friends". This project began last year and is continuing to be used.Have class pets can get very expensive, having these resources is a huge help. The resources purchased through this project a still being used, the lights for the bearded dragons tank, the filters for the fish tank as well as the carrying case will be used through out this school year as well. This year we will be using the Butterfly kits during our life cycle units later in the year.My students and I appreciate your help. We hope that you enjoy the pictures.”

  • Cricut Cuts into Genius Hour

    Funded Apr 17, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to my project. It took a while for us to be able to use this due to the pandemic and nit being in the building last year. This year students have used the machine to create tshirts, posters and other signs for our building. It has been a great asset having this machine. I will definitely be creating another project to get another machine as the only downfall is the time it takes to complete a project. Thanks to amazing donors like you it has made it possible for the students to tap into their creative side and create things they didn't think possible. Much live and appreciate Tje STEM students at PS199K”

  • A Classroom from Home

    Funded Sep 11, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to this project.Since March of last year I have been a remote teacher. Last school year was a complete struggle. When I found out that I would be teaching from home again this year I wanted to make it feel as much like being in the building as possible. Having my stand up whiteboard has been a game changer for me and my students. They can see me working as they are working just like in the classroom. I also made it a point to have as many charts hanging in my office as I could for the students to refer to just like they would in the classroom. Thank to donors like you I was able to achieve my goal.”

  • To Infinity and Beyond Our Classroom Part 2

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

We are so excited to have these Oculus Virtual Reality googles in our classroom. Having this wonderful piece of technology has opened up a brand new world to my students. We are able to download apps such as Star Chart, National Geographic and Apollo 11.

My fifth grades love the Star chart app. They are able to take a trip to outer space to see the stars close up and personal. Through this app the students are able to locate constellations and the stars that form that constellation. They are able to click on each star to find out the distance in light years to Earth. They love seeing the different colors of stars because we only see them as light, I cant wait for them to be able to see things like molecules and atoms for or current unit and then later on in the year the different ecosystems. My first graders are learning about how sea turtles survive. I was able to show them a video in the National Geographic app about sea turtles and how they swim in the ocean and also how they come to the sand to lay their eggs. they were also able to see the new baby turtles hatch and go back into the ocean. It was mind blowing. It is really helping my English language learners express what they've learned through pictures that they are able to draw due to the virtual reality world they were in. I love being able to show the students what the world is like outside of our small Brooklyn community. Thank you so much for believing in this project and for giving my students this amazing opportunity.”

  • Clear Cricut Creativity

    Funded May 14, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to this project. It's been a while since we have received the donation for this project. Honestly the program took the children a while to learn how to use and once those students learned it was the end of the school year. So I began teaching the new students how to use it. So far my students have created flowers for our bulletin boards, vinyl pictures for our classroom laptops, posters for their student council campaign posters and other decorations for the classroom. One student even created a light up foam board project to welcome in winter. I cant wait to have the time with them in our after school program to further their creativity. Thank you!!!”

  • Starting the Year Off on the "WRITE" Foot

    Funded Aug 16, 2019

Thank you for your generous donation and for giving my students the supplies they need to be successful everyday. My students are so lucky to have the basic supplies such as paper, pencils, and crayons to use during class time. I love how they do not need to bring everything for their homeroom classes because they have everything they need in my room. I never felt safe having the children walking in the hallways with their sharpened pencils. The students also love the outside of the classroom with the "science lab"decorations. Inside the classroom i put up the posters with the "STEM" jobs, i love hearing the conversations among students about how they would like to do those jobs when they grow up. Thank you for helping to start the year off on the right foot and for giving us these supplies that will last through out the year.”

    Mrs. Esposito

I am asking for funding for this project, which will benefit over 300 students because I feel that students need a chance to problem solve and be creative. I find that my students have trouble being creative offline. They have very little opportunity to work hands on. They are able to work with technology but when I comes to engineering themselves they often become frustrated and give up. I believe these kits will help the students become 21st century thinkers without 21st century technology. I also feel that t will help students communicate with peers in order to complete tasks which is beneficial to my ELL population as well as my special needs students.
