Get Our Scholars Some Essential Products, Snacks, and Activities!
Funded Aug 11, 2020Working in District 7 of the Bronx causes our children to face vast issues with retrieving every day items and supplies. The struggle with hunger, nutrition deficits, homelessness, lack of clothing amongst a few, For this reason we are so grateful for the support we received in being able to provide them with snacks, water, and other products for day to day usage. Our scholars were extremely excited to have these items and we hope we can collaborate again in the future. Small things like this go such a long way and the impact is truly felt.”

Funded Mar 16, 2018Our kids need to start working on their mental health the second they enter school if not before and so it is imperative that we foster environments that promote this. Our children are very fragile and if we can not combat any negative or maladaptive behaviors early then we will face consequences later on. With your donations we can work together to ensure our children are getting the help they need. It is a small but necessary step. Thank you for your support on this mission and I look forward to seeing the impact this leaves.”

Funded Dec 16, 2017We have been so lucky to have these items to help our attendance! We have used the donations as incentives. Kids are getting excited about the surprises and are eager to get here. Getting he children in school is half the battle. With your help our attendance has gone up 1.5% in just one month. That may not sound substantial but it is such an improvement. Keeping the kids in school has benefited them academically and socially. They will spend more hours in class which leads to better grades. We are so thankful and the smallest changes make the largest impact for our kids. They talk non-stop about how they want to give back to their community like you have given to them. They are wonderful children and thank you for bringing them some happiness and motivation.”

Help Feed Our Kids!
Funded Dec 2, 2017From the second the packages arrived, my students were filled with excitement. I used this time to explain to them about the donations and how this project was created. They were so grateful and shocked that people from across the country were supporting them. They opened the boxes and helped divide them to be distributed to counselors and other staff. These snacks now have made a huge difference. This week is a testing week, which is generally very stressful for them. Often they come to school missing supplies to write with or have not eaten breakfast. Additionally it is hard for them to remain focused and stay awake. With the help of these snacks, I was able to make oatmeal for some students, Provide snack bars for others, and give a quick pick me up snack to those who may be losing focus.
Being properly nourished is critical for all people but especially our little ones. They are growing and developing and going the whole day without something seems unacceptable. We are already working as a class on other projects and have spread the word about Donorschoose.org to some of our partner schools as we all reside in a community of need. We were truly honored to be funded and could not thank you enough. It was a small first project but the children have felt the impact. They appreciate the counselors having snacks on hand and are learning it is OK to ask for help. It is OK to let us know if they are hungry. They deserve to not worry about this type of thing and I am so glad to be able to provide this basic need with your help.
Thank you again for taking the time to read our story, support our cause, and make a difference in our lives.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mayerhofer
