My 9th grade students are members of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). They are fundraising to pay for their Regional Conference in Sacramento this Spring. As high school freshmen, they are eligible to compete in a state-wide Public Service Announcement competition. Sixty-seven percent of our students qualify for Title 1 designation. This project, is the first of many PSA's they plan to create. The Flip Video Camcorders will be put to good use as they fulfill the "effective use of technology" portion of the California State Standards. Even though the school is classified as "under-performing," my students are highly motivated and engaged in the learning process. Our small learning community (of approximately 380 students) are at their best when they work collaboratively and cooperatively.
