Help Support our Epic Photography Club
Funded Jun 10, 2024We were funded! Thank you so much!
Your generosity has provided the essential equipment needed to further our program. My resilient and driven students have access to professional cameras, drones, and with your help other photography tools that allow our club to function. This opportunity allows them to gain valuable, in-demand skills in a field they are passionate about. Your support not only fuels their growth but also enriches our entire school community. Thank you for believing in my students and helping us grow our Epic Photography Club.”

Funded Dec 1, 2022You have helped bring something truly valuable to our school community. Our photography club has grown and instilled a love for photography in so many students. Through your help, we have been able to offer an outlet where students can use their creative lens to see the world and capture it has been invaluable.
We have been able to turn a photography club that I had just been thinking about, into a photography club that is real and contributing to the larger school community. My Epic Photographers have begun learning the basics of photography and with the ability to be hands-on with actual cameras they are able to learn the mechanics, technique and practical application of their gear. My students benefit from their experience in this club in so many ways and I feel I need to make that clear so you know just how valuable your help has been to us.
The moment I introduced the idea of starting a photography club the interest was overwhelming. Students were so excited and we didn't even have a single camera yet. My students kept asking about the club and when I told them that our Project was funded and that we would actually have equipment, something happened that was very telling. Their reaction wasn't the youthful excitement that I expected, but rather a visible shift occurred. They realized that I meant what I had been saying. This was a sobering thought for me because I realized that even though they were genuinely excited about the club, they also had been prepared to be disappointed. Like they almost expected the effort to fail. Your help broke an unfortunate norm. You helped show that people will support them even when they don't know them and that things like this are not just on TV. Thank you for that.”

Funded Feb 10, 2022You have helped bring something truly valuable to our school community. With so many things in flux given our adjustments made to keep our students and staff as safe as possible during this pandemic, even being in school has become a stressor. To be able to offer an outlet where students can use their creative lens to see the world and capture it has been invaluable.

When we started our club I realized that a lot of my students were just waiting for something to do. They came to school for their academic classes and went home. That leaves little room for meaningful connections to be made and this is even more true when we are constantly altering our schedules to virtual learning or shortened school days because of public health concerns. The opportunity for students to interact and form meaningful connections had been stifled. With your help, we now have an opportunity for students to be in a space for the sake of their common enjoyment of a new craft and while there they can form those friendships that would have otherwise never developed. This matters so much because students with no real connections in school are way more likely to become academically at risk students or just drop out. Your support for this project has helped to offer a safety net for our students. One that helps ensure that less students fall through the cracks. Thank you for that as well.
Your support has also allowed my students to become more crafty and enterprising. My Epic Photographers created and ran their own photo station at our homecoming masquerade ball. They were the photographers at their own red carpet affair and took all of the pictures of this event. They found purpose, fun, excitement and confidence in that experience and the skeptical attitudes I saw begin to lift when they first found out we actually had cameras coming, was gone. The story of this club doesn't end here, but rather is to be continued. Thanks to your help I was able to start this story and will continue it with my Epic Photographers.”
