Many of my students' native language isn't English. They haven't traveled or had the luxury of experiencing the enriched cultures outside their native homeland. With the help of iPads, my students can journey beyond the walls of the classroom as they research about different sciences, weathers, as well as learn about our enriching historical past. Then, through apps, the iPads will helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners individualize their learning experiences. "Technology is not just a tool, it can give learners a voice that they may not have had before" --George Couros. I work in a Title I school and most of my students don’t utilize the technology at home to the fullest potential. Most of the time, it is because they don't know how to. I want to teach my students how to value technology on a higher level than gaming. Students will be able to work in small groups, share ideas, question findings and gain new knowledge. I want them to see the educational side of technology. These iPads will sharpen and challenge their thinking as well as give them a more creative way to present their projects than "yesterday's pencil and paper" method. iPads will become a tool that will build the skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technological world. These future innovators can create visual findings, recordings and sounds through the apps! The possibilities are endless!
