  • Materials and Supports for Amazing Artists

    Funded Dec 9, 2023

I cannot thank you again for your generosity and support of all 54 of my students! Thanks to all your donations Amazing Artists was able to come to life. As soon as the items were unboxed they started to be incorporated into each and every art lesson. The students instantly spotted many of my new supplies and were eager to get to use them.

Even though we haven't had these items for too long almost all the items have been used. All the items in this project were picked to enhance the entire period of art literacy class. At the beginning of each class we listen to a song about feelings and practice making the faces for each one. Many of the students love the feelings mirror, this mirror and the feelings slider have supported students in identifying and expressing how they are feeling.

In terms of art supplies the students have already completed projects using the paint, colored tape, cardstock and model magic. My students have also benefitted from having adapted crayon options when coloring. These new crayons have made art more accessible and enjoyable for all my learners!

I would like to thank you all again for your generosity and for supporting my students. These items have greatly impacted and enhanced the learning of all of my students. I look forward to seeing how these items continue to support both the needs of my current students and my future students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brennan

  • Fine Motor Fun!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I cannot thank you again for your generosity and support of my classroom. Thanks to all your donations Fine Motor Fun was able to come to life. The students were excited from the minute they saw all the boxes being dropped at the classroom. Students assisted in the unboxing of the items so that they could have time to become familiar with and explore the new materials.

Even though we haven't had these items for too long they have all gotten so much use and quickly became some of the students favorite activities. These items have been incorporated into our fine motor centers, independent work, group play and handwriting lessons. Students love practicing their handwriting skills with the magnetic letter board and tactile letters. Our students have also been able to build fine motor strength with the snap bots and ABC alligators. Thanks to all of the items students are more excited and engaged throughout the lessons.

I would like to thank you again for your generosity and support of my classroom. These items have greatly impacted and enhanced the learning of each student in my class this year. I look forward to seeing how these items continue to support the needs of my current students and the students I have in the future!”

  • Soaring with Sensory!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

I cannot that you again for your generosity and support of my classroom. My students were so excited about the items received in this project from the moment they arrived. On the day most of the items arrived my students were so curious about all the boxes and the items they contained. During the unboxing students were demonstrating their excitement and instantly started making requests to use the new items.

Since receiving the items in this project they have all been incorporated into our daily and weekly routines. Symbols have been made of each item so that students can make requests to use them throughout the school day. Before each activity students are given their personalized choice boards filled with their favorite toys/activities and asked to identify what they would like to take a break with after the activity is finished. The sensory items from this project quickly became some of the most requested and motivating items for the students.

Items in this project are used daily to make the classroom a more calming and sensory friendly environment. Many of the items in this project have gone toward updating our sensory corner, a place where many students like to take a break. The color changing light is used often throughout the day to create a quiet and peaceful environment. Items in this project have also been used to enhance periods of independent and group work. Students enjoy using the sensory chair cushions, vibrating pillow and weighted lap pad. These items have allowed students to gain sensory input during lessons and independent work, which has supported them in staying on task for longer durations of time.

I would like to thank you again for your generosity and support of my classroom. These items have greatly impacted and enhanced the learning of each student in my class this year. I look forward to seeing how these items continue to support the needs of my current students and the students I have in the future!”

  • The Gift of Technology: Helping Students Communicate

    Funded Sep 18, 2018

It has been a few weeks since receiving our classroom iPads. On the day the iPads came the class opened the box together and each student was able to identify the gift we received. The students were so excited to use the new iPads that I couldn't set them up fast enough. The iPads are now set up with an array of educational apps and games, as well as communication apps.

Throughout the school day my students have the ability to use the iPads during lessons and for their earned break times. Each morning my class participates in 1:1 instruction, small groups and independent work. At the beginning of each station they are given a choice board that contains pictures of items they can work toward obtaining once they have completed their work. In the last few weeks our iPads have quickly become the most popular reinforcer!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your generous donation. The materials that we received on your behalf have made a huge difference in our classroom. My students are eager to learn and now have the opportunity to receive extra support using technology. These iPads have supported my students' communication and participation throughout the school day. Thank you for making a huge difference in the lives of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brennan

Technology has become a wonderful tool in developing the speech and language of students with specific needs. Many students who are non-verbal use technology in order to express their wants and needs. Mini iPads will help provide more opportunities for my students to interact with their peers and teachers throughout the school day. The iPads will be able to enhance our school day by providing the non-verbal students with more opportunities to communicate. These iPads will also be a great way for the students to access educational websites, suggested by our school. Students now are often unable to access these websites because they are unable to use a mouse. Students will thrive with the touch screen set up.
