Lighting the Learning Path

Funded Aug 1, 2023

The lamps and fairy lights have been a welcome addition to our room this school year. Many staff and students have walked in and said things like: "Wow, I like what you've done in here. "It so bright and clean." "There's such good energy in here." "These lights are so cozy." As a teacher, I feel pride and joy stepping into this room every morning. It has become a part of my daily morning routine to come in, plug in the lights and turn on the lamps. It helps me set the tone for the day physically, because I'm comfortable in my space, but also mentally. However, pride and comfort for myself has not been the greatest benefit.

My students come in every day ready to learn. They've loved having cozy warm lights on a rainy morning after they've had to walk through puddles to get here. They will ask to turn on a lamp or plug in the fairy lights if I've forgotten. Every now and then I have to turn on all of the overhead lights to wake them up or if we need to see something clearly, but most of the time we have our lamps on!

In the words of my co-teacher: "It adds to the culture of the room giving it a spark and enables us to change the vibe or mood as needed." We are very grateful for your generous donations that have made an impact on our students' lives.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Gorman
