I have the blessing of working with 23 energetic, fun loving, ambitious, and witty students, ranging in grade levels 5-8 in an inner city school. My students qualify for services for a range of reasons that include specific learning disabilities, autism, and emotional disorders. What we all have in common is our dedication to working hard, mastering goals, and meeting classroom expectations through the use of our tools. In our class, we recognize that we are individuals who have a right to learn even though we may learn differently. We maintain our team atmosphere with constant support for each other throughout the school day both in or out of our room. This team atmosphere is carried school wide with all students, staff, and families working together. However, in our efforts to gain knowledge, we embrace our differences and are learning to recognize our own individual needs and tools needed to achieve our goals.
