Charts for Math Lab

Funded Oct 26, 2022

Your contributions have helped improve the student achievement of students in our classroom thanks to your generous donations. Students now have access to posters full of valuable information and strategies that have greatly impacted the achievement of students in the classroom. Students are not worried anymore about running out of poster paper as we have enough to last us a school year. The students were extremely excited to have the poster paper and markers delivered.

Compared to the beginning of the year to mid school year (where we are now), on district math assessments, the class average improved by 14%. The highest gain by one student rose a remarkable 40% from the beginning of the year to mid year. Three other students gained an average 30% improvement compared to the beginning of the year to mid year. In all, 18 out of 20 students in the classroom improved their individual score by an average of 10%-20%.

In State Practice Assessments for Math, more than 60% of the class is no longer in the far below average category, with most now in the approaching grade level category. 4 students are now classified as being in either proficient or advanced category. One student moved from far below basic to just below proficient, a gain of at least 50%.

This is just the start. Trained practitioners of data and math will be working with myself on analyzing these gains to making purposeful instructional steps forward to continue to promote these gains in the math classroom/lab. We will continue to work with the posters to help create meaningful and purposeful supports to help my students to continue to learn strategies and techniques that will enhance their learning in mathematics.

On behalf of the 6th grade students in my classroom, we thank you again for your generous donations to improve the mathematics academic achievement at our school.”

With gratitude,

Mr. Balderas
