  • Money, Money, Money!

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Thank you for sponsoring our school project, the supplies arrived on time but they have not been used because COVID-19 shut down our schools and were not able to complete the project last year. As for this year, students are not allowed to touch things that are not theirs (community objects). I can't wait for the students to shop at our market/grocery store however, I am not sure when we our store will be open. The students will be practicing financial literacy, budgeting, and math skills as they operate the cash registers.

When the boxes arrived, the students couldn't wait for me to open them and then they insisted on helping me assemble the two produce stands. I also asked the teachers on campus to save packages and bottle containers for our store. I am excited and can't wait to set up our market/store as soon as we get COVID-19 clearance.

Both our students in-person and virtual are completing a watercolor science project. They are painting a scene that encompasses all renewable resources. I can't wait to see how creative our students will be on their projects.”

  • Sequencing the Life Cycle Stages

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to work and learn with actual models of six different insect life cycles including an amphibian life cycle. The students task was for them to place the different stages (pieces) in the correct sequence. After they worked with each life cycle model they then observed a real life model of the darkling beetle. After they observed the different life cycles, we discussed the similarities and differences between the models. Lastly, the students drew their favorite insect life cycle.

When the students came into the lab room, they were smiling and filled with so much excitement. They could not wait to work with the models "toys". Once they calmed down and I told them that they would all have an opportunity to work with all 6 models they calmed down. I love to see this kind of excitement for learning.

Our students are now studying Earth's natural resources. I am incorporating art into the science lesson by having the students use watercolors to paint a scene that includes all renewable resources. These should be completed but we were hit with the devastating Winter storm Uri that hit Texas last week.

Thank you in advance for supporting our students as they cope with Covid-19, the weather (winter storms, flooding, hurricanes), and virtual distance learning for many of our students.”

  • Brag Tags Galore

    Funded Nov 12, 2020

Thank you for supporting our students during these hard times that we are all experiencing through the pandemic. I believe that encouraging ours students and trying to get back to some type of normalcy is going to help our students in the long run. I want the students to brag about their accomplishments through the tags they earn and will wear around their necks.

Please continue to support classroom teachers and students across our nation, its greatly appreciated.”

  • Harry Potter Wizard Book Club

    Funded Aug 8, 2019

There are no words that can describe how happy the students were to see the books and bookmarks ready for them to use. They have started reading book one, and the kids in the book club are so into it if they could meet every day they would. This was the kind of reaction I was looking for, kids wanting to read for fun. The students are reading the books individually, and then towards the end of the book club meeting, we discuss what we have learned.

All of the students who are participating in the first round are extremely excited and come every other Thursday to read their book. They especially enjoy the bookmarks that they got to select. I also told them that once they finish book one, they will earn their Harry Potter Book Club T-shirt.

This is only the beginning, I would love to host another book club for the lower grades. I am looking into books, and then I will post it on donorschoose.org.”

  • Team Building with Board Games

    Funded May 17, 2019

Thank you for your kind donation and for sponsoring our project. The students were so excited to see all the boxes being brought into the classroom. The next day when they came into the science lab and saw all the board games sitting on the demonstration desk, I wish you could have seen their facial expressions, priceless.

The board games came in the nick of time. The students were told that they would be playing board games to build their skills of working in cooperative groups - teamwork. I was going to be observing them on how well they worked together, how they took care of the materials (game pieces) and how fast and quietly they cleaned up when the bell rang. The students did very well working with each, helping one another to play the game since many of them had not played these board games before. I wanted them to have fun learning to work with each so that when we conduct our scientific investigations they will know how to cooperatively work together.

Later in the school year, the students will be assigned a project in which they will design and create their own board game on a math/science concept. I can not wait to see what they come up with. We will certainly continue to play the board games when time permits. Thank you for giving our students this opportunity that they otherwise would not have access, too.”

  • Writing Tablets will HELP Conserve Paper

    Funded Mar 1, 2019

Thank you to all of the donors who made this project come alive. The students have really enjoyed using these writing tablets to sketch their ideas out before building their models (board games) and it has come in extra handy when reviewing for the STAAR test. I have the students write down their answers as we review test questions. It's different and more engaging than using regular worksheets. The students keep asking me, where did I get these and how much were they. I tell that they were donated by people who believe in educating children and they were ordered on Amazon.

The students absolutely love using these tablets and what I like the most is that it does not require markers or wipes like a regular whiteboard would. It has also cut back on paper and sharpening pencils.

The students are currently working on designing and creating their own games to review for the science STAAR test that they will be taken during the second week in May. Some of our students will be brainstorming ideas for their project they would like to work on for next years GT Expo. Our students will be out of school in three more weeks, summer break.”

  • Building With LEGOS

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you for providing my students with hundreds of LEGO pieces, which allowed them to build whatever their imagination could up with. For many of my students, this was their first time to play with Legos. I love how Legos allowed constructive problem-solving, increased spatial awareness, fine motor skills development, patience, and teamwork.

When my students saw several boxes being delivered to the lab, they were so curious and wanted to know what was in the boxes. We took out all of the items from inside the boxes and then the students got to build whatever they wanted. Anytime they finish their work, they get to bring out the Legos and build anything they want.

We are currently studying the forms of energy. Our students have had a lot of fun making vibrations in water with tuning forks, making rainbows with prisms, and will be melting chocolate with thermal energy.

Thank you for supporting our students in their pursuit of becoming better educated.”

  • Supplies that will help us EXCEL in SCIENCE

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for sponsoring our project and making a difference in our student's education. We have used the Cricut machine and USB for several projects including bulletin boards, scientist and safety tool cutouts, and science fair projects. There are so many more projects that I want my students to do this upcoming school year using these resources provided for us.

When my students first saw the packages being delivered to our classroom they were so curious and excited to see what was in the boxes. I opened the boxes and explained to them that all of these materials were being donated by a very special company. They wanted to immediately use everything.

Our students are currently studying force and motion and will be moving onto properties of matter. They will be completing a research/power point project and they will be using their USB to save their work.”

  • Come Out and Play!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I wanted to say thank you for providing my students this opportunity to build a robot and a computer from a kit. It is so important for our students to have the knowledge of how computers work and how to work in cooperative groups.

My students were so excited and curious when they saw all these boxes being delivered to the classroom. I informed them all that we had a company who funded million of projects and we were one of those people. Once the boxes were unpacked, the students absolutely loved the giant connect four board game and could not wait to open the computer kits.

I hope that someday in near the future, some of these students will go into computer science or robotics. This was only possible because of your generosity and your belief in teachers.”

  • Science Collides with Art

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for sponsoring our science art project. It allowed my students the opportunity to paint the landforms and landscapes which they had been studying in science class. Both parents and students were really excited to do this activity.

The students got so excited and curious as to what was in these huge boxes that kept coming in. I told the students that they would be painting landforms/landscapes after we finished learning about how landforms were formed through slow and rapid changes. The students were amazed and really enjoyed painting their canvas; even said, that they felt like real artist. Everyone on campus loved the final products, their artwork were displayed outside the cafeteria for everyone to see. I can't wait to do our next art project, painting with watercolor.

We are currently studying properties of soil and natural resources. Then we will be moving into studying plants and their structures. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting our students' education.”

Not only will they learn to work in cooperative groups but build memories that will last a lifetime. There is no better joy for a teacher than for her or him to see their students smile and have fun while learning a difficult concept. Your donation will be appreciated and utilized for many years to come. Learning should be fun and exciting and that's what your donation will do for my students.
