My 14-16 year old students have all the energy you'd imagine yet struggle to connect learning with their real life sitatuions, and I am working to create both a dream and a reality of success in their young minds! Coming into a traditional classroom setting with peers, many whom simply don't want to be there, presents all types of behavioral reactions. Learning to get along, developing respect for each other, the classroom, their teachers, and their own educational opportunities is something our classroom is working to accomplish. Gaining confidence in their reading and writing, feeling safe in their classroom experience, and experiencing success will increase their ability to see a future beyond what statistics show. English class is foundational to literacy- let's make a difference together!
