  • Building Our Social Emotional Library

    Funded Apr 16, 2021

Thank you all for your generous donations! You have helped to expand our classroom library with a collection of social and emotional learning books. These books will help our young learners increase self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making skills, relationship skills and social awareness. I am so excited to share these materials with my students.”

  • Breathe for Change- Social Emotional Learning for Young Students

    Funded Oct 17, 2019

Breathe for Change has given me a different outlook on how to show up as an educator. I have learned the importance of self- care and being mindful and compassionate to others within the classroom. This program introduced me to trauma informed practiced that can help students who have witnessed negative or traumatic events that influence the way cope and deal with life. Being mindful and open to what our students are experiencing is essential when being an educator to young children. In addition to showing care and compassion, Breathe for Change has also increased my love for practicing yoga and taught me how to teach yoga to a wide variety of individuals including children, young adults, people with disabilities and beyond. I will be forever grateful for this experience and will use what I have learned to strengthen my pedagogy and help young students throughout my career.”

  • "Without Music, Life Would be a Dream" -Friedrich Nietzsche

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards our music and movement project. These materials have made a huge impact on the daily lives of our students. As an educator of small children I have seen the importance of including various musical instruments and other tools that help express and develop the students creativity. These tools include musical instruments, yoga mats, yoga books, and mindfulness games that were graciously donated with this project.

They also help to facilitate conversations that enhance the comprehension of social and emotional learning in small children. Through yoga and mindfulness games geared towards this age group, we are able to indirectly increase awareness of children's emotions and how to deal with everyday life.

These materials are utilized throughout the day as a medium to enhance the daily lives of our children.

Thank you again for your contributions on this project.”

  • "Creativity Is Contagious, Pass It On!" -Albert Einstein

    Funded Apr 19, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity. You have helped to provide much needed art materials to our classroom. The students will be overjoyed when they are introduced to these new items and I cannot wait to see what they will create. Without your help this wouldn’t be possible thank you again!”

  • "Play Is the Highest Form of Research"- Albert Einstein

    Funded Dec 14, 2017

Thank you for your generous donations! The students in my classroom greatly appreciate their new dramatic play materials. The "When I Grow Up" costumes that were donated helped the students to increase language and to further understand the Transportation unit of study. The materials facilitated conversations of why we need certain people in our community and how they help us. The puppet theater helped the students to further understand stories read to the class, by reenacting the characters and details from the book.

When the packages were delivered, we sat around in a circle as we opened all the new materials. My classroom was so excited and asked many questions about how and when they can play with their new toys. We discussed how to properly take care of them and where to place them when cleaning up. They have done a great job following along to these classroom routines and rules.

If you were able to take a peek into our classroom, you would see how every child within the puppet theater and dramatic play centers are engaged and communicate concepts of the current themes. We will continue to use these materials to help our students grow and learn each day!”

    With gratitude,

  • "Speech Is Power!"

    Funded Dec 7, 2017

With much appreciation, I would like to express my gratitude towards those of you who donated to our classroom. Your donations went towards purchasing printer ink, printer paper and laminating paper that has been used to create many projects so far! The population within this classroom are English Language Learners, who speak English as a second language. In order for students to flourish and learn to their greatest potential, we use these materials to create visual aides, games, and vocabulary words just to name a few examples.

Each month our classroom will focus on a new unit of study. At this time, we create materials specifically for the new content being taught. Students are given the opportunity to learn in centers such as dramatic play, art, writing, math and science, each having their own activities relevant to the current unit of study. The students show enjoyment when they are given new tasks and have he chance to engage with their peers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ambrosie

Preschool is one of the most important developmental stages for children. Within this first year of school, students acquire many skills that create the foundation for further learning. Children at this age are learning to increase self awareness and independence as well as forming new relationships with others. These skills are mostly taught through various types of play. My classroom's main goal is to promote independence by creating an atmosphere that is student directed and open to exploration.
