Help Ridgewood Shine on With Eclipse Ball Equipment
Funded Nov 30, 2022This week we were able to wrap up our volleyball unit. Thanks to your generosity we were able to incorporate two new types of games into our unit. The students who struggled with volleyball were able to improve using the oval ball. Those who were looking for a volleyball alternative or a net wall game, found eclipse ball to be very entertaining.
When the students first saw the oval ball they thought it was a punishment to play a different game. Once they saw that it allowed them to be successful in volleyball they began demanding to use it.
Again thank you for caring for our students.”

Funded Jun 14, 2022Today we were able to implement our new equipment into our school. Thanks to you the students were able to all participate simultaneously and were all kept safe without feeling like they were using a "baby" ball.
As we progress these balls will also be able to be used in our pitching machine. We have not been able to use the machine in many years because we didn't have the correct balls for these students level. Now we will be able to teach them to hit with the consistency that you can only get from a machine.”

Taking it One Step at a Time: Milers Looking For Pedometers
Funded Mar 12, 2013As I mentioned before, words cannot describe how much this means to my students and I. Thank you so much for your kind generosity. Because of your donation you have truly given my students a leg up on building a healthy lifestyle for themselves. On top of that, your kindness will show my students that there are people out there that do help. A lesson many of my students need in their lives.
After only one week, we have integrated the pedometers into our outdoor fitness and running unit. Using the pedometers as a guide for "Have I done enough today" my students have definitely picked up the pace (pun 100% intended). We have also combined the pedometers with Ipods to further extend the use of technology in the PE class.
Students have already commented on how surprised they are at how accurate the pedometers are. I have also received quite a few requests from students regarding purchasing more so they can use them all day or at home.
Once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Close to Competing: Varsity is Calling, Will You Answer?
Funded Apr 12, 2012I wish a letter could truly express the gratitude I have for all of you that donated to this project. It is no small feat to help impact the lives of so many middle school students and you should all now feel that you have played an integral role in all my students lives. Not just this year but each year that I get to use the equipment procured with your donations.
Although I only received the materials this week, I have already began using them in class. Instead of the bald flat basketballs, we drilled using the new ones. The skill level itself was not changed (yet) but the proud and excited looks on the students' faces was noticeable.
I look forward to using this equipment in the final month of the 2011 - 2012 school year and for many years to come.
Thank you again.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Nepogoda
Welcome to the Resistance: A PE Revolution
Funded Dec 29, 2011I cannot begin to thank all of you for your generosity in giving to my project. It is truly because of organizations and people like you that make me continue to have faith in the goodness of humankind. I wish I could thank each of you in person, but since I cannot, I would instead like you to hear how the resistance bands have already impacted my students.
On a class level the bands have already been worked into our volleyball unit. Students have learned arm and upper body routines that have worked to strengthen them in areas difficult to improve without this equipment.
On an independent level, students have requested to use the bands frequently in our "free play" periods. This is where they were needed most. During this time, students who do not gravitate towards the team sports seem to have a hard time finding a "life long fitness" activity. The bands have filled this void.
Finally, I have loaned a few of the bands to a class room teacher. The teacher uses the bands as a way to focus students who have trouble paying attention.
Again, I just want to thank all of you for taking the time to read and fund my project. You have not just aided with money, you have help me to create a more complete student. One who is not just academically sound, but also sound in body. ”
With gratitude,
Mr. Nepogoda
