  • It's All About Teamwork: In Math Class and in Life!

    Funded Dec 8, 2019

When my students received the packages from Donors Choose they were very excited. They could not wait to assemble the two tables. They stayed after school and spent time collaboratively to read the instructions and followed them step by step. After an hour or so we celebrated together this amazing gift joyfully. The students feel very comfortable to move from group to groups during instructions to share ideas and to help each other.

It is amazing to see how my students appreciated the kindness of the donors and looking forward to use this material to further collaboratively safe learning. They thank you dearly for this extraordinary gesture.”

  • Chromebook Charging Station

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

Thank you very much for your kind donation. The Charging Station has been a wonderful addition to our computing system within the classroom. It provides a unique level of protection and security for the Chrome computers. There are a total of four PC's that are fully charged and ready for use by our students.

The Charging Station allows the Chrome PC's to be used daily without the worry of battery drainage during critical time of academic use; moreover, this provides a more organized way to transition the use of computers between students of different periods while maintaining full charge.

The students were very excited and curious when they first saw the Charging Station and volunteered to assemble the parts and test out the station. By the end of the period, all the students wanted an opportunity to place a Chrome computer into the Charging Station to see how it works.

The next step for our students is to learn the importance of taking care of shared systems, which is demonstrated by safely removing the Chrome PCs from the station as needed and properly placing them back after use, which will allow other students the opportunity to use them as well.”

Technological literacy is essential if our students are to be competitive in a 21st Century, global economy. As a result of this, integrating technology into classroom instruction should be one of the top priorities of any good educator. Access to technology would allow students to be active participants in the learning process rather than passive recipients of information, which would ensure they develop a better depth of knowledge of the concepts they are learning. It also allows for differentiation, not only on the basis of academic levels, but for interests as well. My students, need Chromebooks to help them gain the skills that will enable them to compete in a 21st century, global economy. My students primary language is Spanish. Most of the materials and resources available are in the target language which is English. Having part of the technology will further enhance their access to the state curriculum. Using the Chromebooks in a collaborative learning environment for researching, writing and mathematical application skills, rather than just simple drills and practice, helps foster student creativity, collaboration, and communication. The use technology in the classroom allows instruction to be highly customizable; students can work independently or collaboratively as active participants in the learning process rather than passive recipients of information.
