We spend a lot of time learning on the rug! The rug is a comfy place where students can engage with the material they are learning. We sit together on the rug to read stories, to learn new material, practice math, meet as a classroom community, sing, dance and have fun!
A rug is an essential part of 1st grade. The students in my classroom will have the opportunity to have their own space on the rug to sit comfortably as a community of learners! The rug will give us a comfortable and inviting place to sit, learn, and grow while giving us individual space. They will learn to respect others personal space as well as have ownership of their space. It will be a place where we can come together to learn, explore and build our classroom community.
