So often in education, we are stuck in the same pattern -- lecture, then homework. In my coding class, I want to change the way instruction is delivered. Using the 20% model, students will spend 80% of their time coding using the Python language. On Fridays, students will use 20% of their time to think critically and analyze video games and cell phone applications, thus teaching students through hands-on activities what works well and what doesn't work well. The goal? Translate their experiences from (using the Classic NES and Classic NES controllers) into the apps they make so that their current and future stakeholders are happy with their success.
