My students need communication pictures that are in color ink. Currently, I only have access to a black and white printer. The educational toys will assist the students in gaining hands on experiences. I frequently need to print out pictures for my students so that they can make their wants and needs known. I do not have a printer in my room and I spend a lot of time running up and down the stairs. The pictures are in black and white and therefore not visually stimulating to many of the special needs students. The color printer and ink will enable me to print out realistic picture communication symbols for my non-verbal students.
The family dolls, house, barn, and animals will enhance my therapy sessions through the realm of play-based therapy intervention. I often collaborate with teachers as we work on thematic units such as "Family" and "Farm Animals". The students even get to go to the farm to visit the pumpkin patch I am always looking for exciting and new ways to make therapy fun and educational. My wish list consists of excellent products which will be used with all of my students for many years to come.
