  • Sensory Toys Teach Finances and Replenish Our Class Store

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for your generous donations! Your donations have helped make my students excited about learning! The students and I can’t wait to receive the materials and engage in a fun way to learn about financial literacy. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Financial Literacy Fun through Class Store Purchases

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

My students and I would like to thank you for your generosity. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to set up a classroom store for students to shop at monthly. Every month, after paying rent and receiving their salary for classroom jobs, students get to shop. We are already almost out of the items! They work so hard for their bonuses that they have almost purchased everything in just a few short months!

Working hard and learning about saving money are just a couple things my students are learning all while having a lot of fun! The enjoyment on their faces when they cash in on all their hard work is priceless! This would not be possible without your generosity! We are forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

  • Sensational Class Store Items to Teach Financial Literacy

    Funded Sep 2, 2023

My students are elated to be able to visit our class store each month! They save their classroom dollars earned from test grades and other achievements to be able to shop. Additionally, they are learning about financial responsibilities like rent, salaries and fees. Once they receive their salary, pay their rent and any no homework fees, they are ready to shop or save for bigger items next month. Towards the end of the month, they are already asking when they'll be able to "shop." Thanks to your donations, I can provide this learning experience and give students access to these fun rewards for their hard work. We are very grateful for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

  • Real-World Connections

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

My Gifted students love making real-world connections! They open their Scholastic or STEM magazine and can't wait to see which article we'll be reading first! I give them a few minutes forts to explore before delving in to our focus article.

As we dive in, their hands shoot up to read and participate. They enjoy reading aloud the articles, discussing the current events, and asking questions.

These magazines give my students an opportunity to explore and inquire about the ever changing world around them. We are so grateful for this opportunity you have given us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

  • Sensational Sensory Incentives Help Teach About Savings 2

    Funded Jan 28, 2023

Our students have been using the resources they received from this project during our ongoing Financial Literacy interactions. At the end of every month, students are able to use the classroom dollars they have accumulated to go "shopping." They absolutely love to see new "merchandise" in our class store!

When they noticed I had added the colorful, sensational sensory incentives to our store, they couldn't wait to jump out of their seats and go to the store. They were counting their money and calculating how much they needed to save.

I can't wait to continue this concept with my students. They are learning so much about earning and saving, all while enjoying some fun incentives along the way thanks to our generous donors!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

  • Real-World Connections

    Funded Aug 25, 2022

My students have absolutely loved engaging in our Scholastic and SuperScience magazines that connect what we are learning in class to the real-world. It's great learning about our wonderful state in Social Studies class and about science topics such as matter and energy during science class. But it's so much better reading about how kids in Kansas voted for a new state flower or how the Star-Nosed Mole adapts to its environment, while looking at brightly colored images in a magazine or watching videos online.

I like to start each magazine lesson by allowing kids time to explore the entire magazine and just witnessing their curiosity to rush to find a page to learn more about a topic is what learning is all about.

My students are Gifted students who are very curious and inquisitive. These magazines have really helped them stay engaged in class and excited about learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

  • Sensational Sensory Incentives Help Teach About Savings

    Funded Aug 19, 2022

Thanks to our sensational sensory incentives, my students have been able to practice what they are learning with financial literacy in a real-world environment! The have applied for classrooms jobs, earned income in the form of classroom dollars, paid rent monthly, earned bonuses for good grades, and even had to pay no homework fees and late fees. At the end of each month, once their rent is paid, they have the rewarding opportunity to go shopping in our class store and select fun items thanks to our donors' generosity.

My students could not wait until the end of the first month after showing them a sneak peek of our awesome items in our class store! There was so much excitement and motivation to do well knowing this would give them more money to use in our store!

We will need to re-stock our store soon but I will definitely continue this financial literacy focus for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

  • Tech-tacular Adventures with Just an iPad and a Pen

    Funded Nov 28, 2020

I would like to begin by stating my utmost gratitude for your donation, especially during these tough times! I know businesses have had quite an impact that, in turn, also impacts individual circumstances as well. The fact that I have been given this donation during this pandemic shows your resilience as well as the respect given to the field of education. My students and I are beyond grateful!

Because of your donation, I have been able to teach rigorous math skills, utilizing technology, in a way that is so much more effective when teaching remotely. My students can now easily read my numbers and equations more clearly. They can also interact more effectively remotely without wasted time. Finally, I am able to engage my students in learning even though we are miles away.

I look forward to being able to continue to learn new tech-tacular adventures I can take and programs I can use with my new ipad and pen!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arana

While being Quarantined, I have researched ways to keep my students engaged over distance learning. I tried a few over quarantined but only recently came across some really cool ideas and Apps. I just imagine being able to project a virtual 3D model, expand it, dissect it, learn about it, all within the magic of technology. I also hope to be ale to use the pen to demonstrate math problems without kids having to squint their eyes to read small numbers. Or project a tried and true document. My students are virtually unstoppable!
