Hamilton, The Musical for High School Newcomer Students
Funded Sep 7, 2019Thank you very much for your amazing donation, my students had such an amazing experience at the play. Seeing their faces while they watched such a beautiful production is something that could not have happened without your generous support and care. The students returned to class with a new found excitement for learning and even more a love for history. Being in a new country and learning a history of a place that is foreign is something that at times can feel removed from our own experiences now I see my students making connections to the prospect of a better future and the hope for a better country.”

Funded Aug 20, 2019Thank you all so much for your support and helping fund this project! My student will be ecstatic to hear they will be able to have headphones in class for our projects. It will helped so many of them with their speaking skills and understanding different historical events. Students use google translate and google read and write to understand text and these headphones are an amazing support. Thank you all again for your generous donations and your support. The students are on the way to being stronger English speakers. ”

History Heads Need Headphones
Funded Nov 23, 2017Thank you for the wonderful donation, it has been such a help in my class. Working at a school for newcomers it is challenging not having all the resources necessary to implement interactive lessons. Now my history students can watch video's to supplement their learning and engage them in the critical thinking process of history. Not only are they watching documentaries but they can create movies documenting their stories of immigration as well. Our youth today need to access information in multiple ways and this had greatly helped. Before students we had few headphones in class to use. Students were forced to use their own or ones that were broken. Although I projected most videos for students there were many that needed extra time to listen and really take their time with what they were seeing and hearing on the screen. I was not able to give students that option but now I can. My classroom is more equitable and all students have the chance to access the language they need via audio and videos. Today they can work on learning English and history effectively which is great to see. It feels great having quality headphones in class to learn.”
