  • Recess Irma Recovery

    This project has given extra recess equipment to over 100 third graders at my elementary school. This has given them a whole new excitement for getting outdoors and increasing activity.

    You should have seen the look on students faces as boxes and boxes of equipment was delivered. The joy that this project has given to the students and faculty is one that does not occur very often in public education.

    Hurricane Irma has thrown a huge damper into our school year. Aside from loss of material goods, students also have lost the stability of our school calendar. We have lost instructional days. This seriously increased our hyperactivity and sense of focus. With this equipment, our students are slowly recovering from an inconsistent start to the school year.”

My students need storage for our basketballs, tennis rackets, and other equipment that we use daily in PE. Taking care of our equipment is important so that it lasts as long as possible. Currently, all of our items are thrown in the corner and are not organized in any way. I would like to teach my students the importance of keeping this well-organized and taking care of the equipment. Having hooks, bags, racks, and baskets will help us keep up with the equipment we use each and every day. Thank you for your help!
