  • Heathy Hygiene, Happy Hearts

    Funded Dec 16, 2024

Thank you so much for your kind donation. Working in a low SES neighborhood, sometimes our students don’t have the basic necessities. Your donation will ensure that our students have access to hygiene products so that they can better focus on their learning. Your donation will impact a lot of the students!”

  • Let's Be Social!

    Funded Jun 1, 2023

Thank you for your kind donations. I have been implementing these materials into my social work lessons. The students have enjoyed the fun "free time" games, especially the Hot Dog card game. I have also incorporated some of the social emotional games into the social work lessons. The CBTrail card game is similar to Uno but has students discuss different emotions and scenarios. This is a fun way to teach my students how to think about their emotions in a fun and engaging way. The "free time" games are also used for my students that struggle with social skills. I teach my students how to take turns and follow directions during game play. Thank you again for your donations!!”

  • Representation Matters!

    Funded May 26, 2024

Thank you for your generous donations to my project. Your donation will help ensure that all the classrooms have books with Black, Indigenous, or other People of Color (BIPOC) representation. I believe that it is important for all students to see themselves within the curriculum and materials that they read.”

  • Games for Play Skills

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students absolutely love all of the items that we have received. Literally, when each student looked in the cabinet and saw all of the new stuff, their first response was "whoa". I have used some of the games in my social work sessions. My students thoroughly enjoy playing games and they do not even realize they are learning.

I have a lot of students that are working on their social and play skills. Having the toys and games allow them to play with things that they enjoy while also learning skills such as cooperative play, taking turns, sharing, losing, etc... They are gaining these critical social skills that are needed but may not come naturally.

I will continue to use these items with my current students and my future students. Having all of these resources allows me to target different skills and goals while allowing my students to still have fun! Thank you again for your kind donations!”

  • Assistive Technology Tool for Social-Emotional Learning

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

The tablet has been a significant help in working with some of my students. For some students, they struggle with the motor skills needed to use traditional pencil and paper. Have the tablet allows them to easily do activities that they would otherwise struggle with. It also allows my students who use communication devices to communicate words and sentences geared specifically to their social/emotional learning.

My students absolutely love the apps and games that they are able to play on the tablet. The tablet offers a vast array of social/emotional learning apps and games that keeps my students engaged. We have even used the tablet for whole-class sessions which include using the Calm app when the class was being very rowdy.

Our students have lived in the technological age since birth. They are able to navigate and use technology better than adults. Using technology as a way to help our students learn is essential in this day of education. The students get so excited when we get to try new apps or new activities on the tablet. I am so grateful for your generous donations.”

  • Create It!

    Funded Sep 19, 2022

Your donations has helped me significantly in developing visual aids to use with my students. I work with a number of students with diverse needs that require diverse support to learn and function in the school setting. Some of my students are non-speaking so they require an alternative way to communicate. Some of my students do not respond to verbal requests and require visuals to understand what they need to do.

All of these tools help me to create visuals to support my students. I have used the binding machine and laminating sheets to create augmented communication tools such as a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) board. I have used the paper cutter, the whole bunch, and the binder rings to create a visual aid necklace to use with my students that require visual prompts and support.

Having these supplies will help me to create countless visual aids for my current students and for the students in the many years following. Every student is unique and learns in their own way, it is important to have the tools that will help me support each and every student that I work with.”

  • Flexing Our Social Skills

    Funded Jul 7, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations. I greatly appreciate your kind giving to me and my students. As a school social worker, I work primarily with diverse learners. We work on social skills, emotional regulation, impulse control, etc. I am always trying to find ways of engaging my students in fun and creative ways.

The Superflex curriculum is a perfect way of engaging my students in learning social-emotional skills. They get to be superheroes and have super powers that help them defeat the Unthinkables. Some of the Unthinkables include Rock Brain who causes people to get stuck on their ideas or Mean Gene who causes people to be rude and bossy. The students are excited to go back and tell their class about their superpowers and how they are defeating the Unthinkables.

I am excited to go through this entire curriculum with my students to see their development. The goal is to help make my students more flexible thinkers and to defeat those thoughts/actions that cause my students to struggle academically and social-emotionally. Thank you so much!”

  • Reading is Good for the Soul

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students love reading and looking through these books. These books will give my students the opportunity to learn about various topics. Some books will be used to help develop my students' social and emotional learning. They will learn about bullying, being different, emotional regulation, ect. There are also books about diversity and inclusion. Being at a school with predominantly Brown and Black students, it is important for my students to see themselves in the books. They were learn about how their hair is beautiful, how their skin is beautiful, and what makes them amazingly unique. I want my students to be able to relate to what they are reading.”

  • Social Skills Activities

    Funded May 12, 2022

Thank you for the donations for the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card. I have already used the gift card to purchase a social emotional learning bundle that included various activities, games, and lessons. I am looking forward to using this bundle for my students this upcoming fall.

The bundle includes a 40-week social emotional learning curriculum for kindergarten through 2nd grade that can also be used in the classroom. I will be encouraging the teachers I work with to provide more social emotional learning within the classroom setting.

Again, thank you for your donations and I can not wait to start using my new materials.”

As a school social worker, I work with many different students with diverse needs. Some of the things I help my students learn are: social and play skills, emotional regulation skills, mindfulness, self-advocacy skills, etc... Having different resources and tools are crucial in ensuring I am meeting the needs of each individual student. I also want to ensure that my students feel welcome and to know they have a place to go if they need support or just need a safe space to relax.
