My students come from a low income neighborhood. It is also a school recieve a free lunch. My class competes in our district's robotics competition which we use to practice for an even larger robot rally at our local university where my 6th graders can compete with students that are in 8th grade. Students in my robotics class include my own students and students from the other 6th grade class. This I am expecting to teach as many as 45 to 50 kids. In class, students are taught coding, math such as symmetry, rotations, diameter, radius, proportions, gearing up and gearing down. They are also taught to work in a team, how to disagree and perceived. They are also taught to take chances, to expirament and to see what does and does not work.
