    Funded Apr 9, 2025

I want to thank you so much for your generous donation to our elementary school art library. This donation will be a game changer to my students because student's will now have access to a great selection of "how to" drawing books that will help them draw and create on their own.

My students absolutely love drawing and these new books will make a big difference in helping them illustrate their ideas and grow as artists. These books will help them with class projects as well as their own independent projects. My students have been asking for this so thank you for your kindness and support. We truly appreciate it.”

  • Developing Meaningful Connections Through The Visual Arts

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation. My students were particularly excited and happy when they saw the new watercolor paints and origami paper. My students look forward to art and they love when that are able to use art making materials they don't have access too at home. In a large school, art supplies are used up fast. I love to be able to supply students with quality art supplies that enhances their artistic expression.

Because of school closing students wasn't able to explore all donated art materials.

We used a lot of the paper donated, which is a main staple in the art room. With your donation I could freely allow student to get paper when needed because there was enough to go around! I could offer students both half as well as whole size sheets of paper, which is a big deal! I think other public school elementary art teachers would agree, that with over 600 students paper in grades K-2 paper seems to just disappear! When we get back in school building we will use the special stuff like the origami paper and watercolor paint!

I am extremely grateful for your generosity I thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and kindness towards me as a teacher and my students. This has been an overwhelming time for me but I want all the donors who funded this project to know that even though the physical school year was cut short your donation to my art room made a difference in so many little lives that look forward their 45 min of art each week!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gant

  • Elementary Artist Portfolios

    Funded Nov 18, 2019

I am extremely grateful for your generosity. Having folders for each of my student's artwork makes a huge difference, in my life as well as my students. My students take more pride and ownership in their work when they know they are building a portfolio and they can easily and clearly see their progress. Because of school closing students didn't get to take their folder home, however when school returns in the building they will receive them. I think when students finally get a chance to look back at their portfolio of art work they made before the pandemic hit our country year, it will be even more special to them. As a public school teacher, I thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and kindness.”

  • Elementary Art Students Portfolios

    Funded Sep 5, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity. As a teacher my day work doesn't stop when students leave the building, staying late and bringing work home is the norm. Your donation allowed me to spend my time on the work that matters most. Designing art units that students will love and hopefully find interesting. Exposing them to contemporary artists and works of art that reflect their own as well as other diverse cultural backgrounds is important to me. Children in my class have a chance to talk about art, express themselves through art and work with different materials, which all takes time to prep and organize for my classes.

This is my second year teaching art at this school and the impact of the folders made a huge deal. My first year I tried making folders for 750 students, this took to much time so I bought a few boxes from staples and I got a few used ones from family and other teachers. I used rubber bands for the rest, which is not ideal to say the least. My students work really hard on their work and I don't want to give them their work back with just a rubber band. Students who received folders last year, tell me about projects did and say they have their portfolios at home. One student told me she even brought her art portfolio with her on a trip to Mexico so she could show her grandmother. This makes me feel good that students value their art experience.

My students love having their own folders for their artwork. It seems like at simple item but makes a huge difference in organization for both them and me. Getting these folders at the start of school helped so much. Without them I truly don't know how I would organize.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gant

Hello, I am a visual art teacher in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. My students are super creative and eager to make art. Every time I push into their classroom or they come into the art room, excitement fills the room. Students frequently ask me about projects and even share with me art that they are doing at home. My art students take time in creating artwork as well as looking and analyzing works of art. I teach grades K-5 in large high need public elementary school. Approximately 50% of our students and families are English Language Learners and students with special needs. For many students, the art is an area where they can feel successful and be proud about something they created. I love watching students try new things and persevere, as well as showing joy and pride in what they created.
