This project will help to overhaul my classroom and make it more of an inviting and comfortable space like that of a coffee shop. My students are seniors and are nervous about the transition to adult life, and I want to bring in flexible seating options to allow students comfort in learning such as chairs and a bistro table. In addition, I want to have a portable couch and chair tables for current flex seating in my classroom. As my students are 17/18 and about to enter college, I want to make an inviting coffee shop atmosphere with coffee/tea makers through the Keurig and a microwave. This will also help to create a calming and inviting space where students can study before/after school. They can study with tea and heat up healthy snacks so they can utilize the room effectively. In addition, I want to create a small library nook so that students can begin the transition to studying in college. Within the nook, I want to add a bookshelf with novels for the students. I want to create a safe space in my classroom again to create the feel of a library in helping to transition to life after high school. Finally, I want to provide technology options such as Apple pencils and air pods because not all students have these available to them. I want them to have any available technology to prepare them for college.
