My students come from a majority of single family homes. Challenges at home prevent many of them from being able to afford to play a musical instrument, and don't have a safe place to keep it at home. Our school is overflowing this year, with large class sizes and reduced supplies for those students. We are confronted with the challenge of inspiring creativity and learning while have having to make due with less and less each year. My program was on the receiving end of budget cuts this year, and my students are hopeful that someone will be able to help them learn the recorder this year.
