An iPad for My Nonverbal Students!
Funded Jul 23, 2021Thank you so much again for your donation.
The additional IPad is a tremendous help in my classroom! We are currently utilizing one for our group lessons; the students point and request for videos or point and responds on board. The technology keeps student engaged, interested and more encouraged to communicate.
Now with an additional IPad, I am able to install PECS+ for my non-verbal students. The technology allows me to produce PECS and arrange PECS with ease; it lessens my workload having to prepare, print, laminate and put together the icons individually! As student progress and ready for more icons, I am now able to change icons with ease! The extra IPad really is my life saver!”

Funded Feb 14, 2019Thank you for your generosity! Without your help, we would still be having difficulties with instructions just waiting for the old IPad to load!
Your contribution makes a huge impact because this IPad runs the show in our morning routine, our direct instruction time. Because of you, our new IPad is able to run updated programs such as Starfall.Com app to learn our ABCs! We are able to learn the fundamentals interactively by pointing, requesting, all the while with brilliant and lively images to keep us engaged and motivated! Because of you, our new IPad is able to load writing programs smoothly, so we can work on our fine motor skill and letter formation! Last but not least, because of you, our IPad is now able to load our audiobooks, youtube videos, and GoNoodle site on bunny speed! Yay!
As you may already know, I have a group of special needs kids from 3-5 years old. My biggest job is to help my students become kindergarten ready, whether they are ready to be mainstreamed or not. I have fought for years to get my students to remain engaged and focused in the short amount of times that I have with them. Since I have switched to IPad and utilized technology during direct instruction time, my students have come a long way making huge progress. Technology became my best friend! The IPad was the best reinforcer for learning and definitely saved me tons of time and money trying to make the materials on my own! For instance, alphabets are no longer dry and tedious, and movement times are much more enjoyable now because children have visuals to follow. In addition, now I am able to include science because the IPad is able to load Mystery Science without failing! The list goes on and on.
All of all, this all cannot happen without your generosity! A new IPad is the biggest gift you could gift us! Thank you for your contribution to help us enhance our learning and help us taking bigger strides in our learning journey!”

See, Listen and Move!
Funded Dec 14, 2017First, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation! Your contribution to my latest technology addition in class has transformed the learning environment in my classroom. I cannot even begin to describe how much my students have enjoyed learning since we have gotten the projector and screen. As I have described in the project previously, I have a Pre-Kindergarten Language Emphasis Special Day Class. This means, I have a classroom filled with incredibly active and smart three to five years-olds with a portion of them diagnosed with ASD but high functioning and some with speech impairment. The latest technology addition have helped the students to increase engagement as well as participation and listening skill (when used as reinforcement).
In the past, I have always used printed visuals, toys, marker and boards to increase the excitement during a sit-down circle time. Since my students are still learning classroom skills, depending on the group, it is difficult to get students to participate and become engaged in learning naturally. Many of my students require tons of reminder (verbal/ visual), and when the materials become dry, less interactive and slow-moving, the amount of reminders and redirections sky rocket. Now, I can get my students to become engaged easily with apps I installed or Starfall.Com to get them to work on sounds and articulations, requesting, and alphabets without any fights. Furthermore, I can use songs and movements, although it was already worked into a part of my circle, to entice them to work as a reinforcement! To sum it up, we fight less and students learn more! Of course, I still have to worry about keeping the balance of having excessive amount of video and apps because in the end these kids will have to grow into learning with less stimulating visuals. So far, I'm still experiencing with balancing using the different elements, however, it has been a learning process for me as well!
Overall, this has been an incredible experience and to be able to see the learning transform was A-MAZING! My students warmed up to this new technology quickly and have embraced it 100%. Now, I must make it a mission to see that this new addition work efficiently for my students and minimize the dependency as much as possible. Again, much gratitude to your generous contribution to my classroom to help my students learn!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ming
