My students are bright, amazing, eager, thoughtful and all out wonderfulI human beings. I have the honor of teaching English Language Arts at a PreK3- grade 5 school in the South Bronx. The school is located in the poorest congressional district in New York City. Our school is surrounded by mental health clinics and temporary housing shelters which many of our students call home. As an outsider looking in it would be easy to feel sympathy for many of our families due to the various struggles within the community. I'm here to assure you that as an honorary member of this community my students and their families persevere. My students show up with dignity, pride and integrity ready to tackle their education head on. My classroom is rich in cultural diversity and bares the footprints of all the beautiful cultures that make up community.
