Identifying Feelings and Coping with Emotions
Funded Feb 24, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity! It has been amazing to watch students identify their emotions using the emotion spot stuffies. It has been so fun to see our new curriculum integrated into their work with emotions.
Because of your donations, students have been highly engaged in the stories and the power of understanding what emotions look like and feel like. I have also been able to share these resources with classroom teachers. They have begun to use the same resources and with just as much success!
I am planning on continuing this journey and starting another project expanding the use of these tools.
Thank you again for making this possible for our students.”

Good Social Skills Need Practice
Funded Dec 3, 2021Thank you so much for your generous and kind donations toward my project. Because of your donations my students are able to practice their social skills. I currently serve over 600 elementary school students who have just returned to in-person learning. The materials from this project helped support many of the students in need of extra support in the area of social skills.
Using the board games from this donation gave me the opportunity to further help facilitate turn taking, sharing, communication, team building, and patience. It is amazing to see all students use basic social skills and enjoy the process and practice.
Thank you again for helping support this important work.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 3 other donors.Building a Calming Corner with Seating Choices
Funded Feb 22, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity. Your donations to this project have made it possible for students to practice mindful strategies in order to be successful students. With your donations, students are able to come to the counseling office and calm themselves before entering their classrooms and beginning their day. Other students use these materials throughout their day to regulate their emotions.
Students were most exited to finally be able to share their experiences of mindful thinking with each other. Students are able to use the new seating choices such as the cushions and set up their own "calming station". Students manage their own time and strategies and apply the skills back in the classroom.
Students are eager to share with their teachers and their parents how they have used their calming stations and asked to set them up in their classrooms and at home. I am excited to assist with this as well. Thank you for helping to make this happen.”

Creating Cooperative and Community Proud Students
Funded Jun 9, 2018Thank you so much for your kind donations. Students are currently using the multicultural crayons, markers and pencils to make connections in their artwork. This artwork is specific to connecting their own feelings and social-emotional learning to others in their grade level group.
Students will continue to use the art materials and community Legos to work together in partners to create social skills.
It is amazing to see the students so excited to find art supplies and building toys that they directly identify with.
Thank you again.”

Supporting Students of Trauma
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for your kind donation. It has been amazing to see students immediately gravitate to these new tools. Students are practicing their calm down and relaxation strategies with the breathing balls and chimes. Students are learning to manage their stress levels by using the sand frames and stress fidgets.
I am using the new books in small groups, classrooms and offering them to parents.
These books on flexible thinking, growth mindset, and re-framing negative thoughts have been a powerful visual strategies to teach kids.
I am able to continually introduce more and more students to strategies that they are using in many areas of their life. Students are starting to use these tools in the classroom, on the playground, and at home.
Thank you again for supporting these students in their efforts to be the best learners they can.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Find Focus and Stress Relief
Funded Jan 5, 2018This is the first project I have submitted to Donor's Choose. I was not sure I would be able to express the needs I have as an elementary school counselor in this type of format. I was absolutely elated to see that my project had been fully funded!
The students who come to my room for groups, daily check ins, problem-solving, quiet breaks, lunchtime breaks or just to say hi, were mesmerized with the items I received from your donations.
I have a caseload of over 600 students. The opportunity for every student to utilize a calming fidget or a wiggle stool is possible. I have been able to use the fidget bands in several classrooms and the sound canceling headphones in 2 assemblies already.
My most affected students come to my room, quickly grab a calming tool, and get right to work. These students are learning to manage anxiety, ADHD and many other self regulation needs.
These tools will be used for many years with hundreds of students.”
