Collective Collaboration
Funded Mar 26, 2021Having classes virtually for students requires resources that I do not have access to and Teachers Pay Teachers will help set my students up for success even in our current situation. This year, with blended instruction I hope to utilize the amazing ideas and creations from the awesome teachers out there on Teachers Pay Teachers, so that the learning can be as fun and engaging as possible for students at home and at school. I have used Teachers Pay Teachers for many of my online lessons and find that it's a valuable tool for reaching all students, no matter their learning style. Having a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will give me access to thousands of resources that I can use with my students. There are so many resources that I know will be useful for my students during the school year, and this gift card will put them right at my fingertips. The lessons available on teachers pay teachers are engaging, cover a broad range of topics, and are available at various levels to ensure that each student is having their needs met. In addition, teachers pay teachers has printable resources that I can deliver to my students in the form of packets who do not have internet access. All of my students will benefit from access to the content on Teachers Pay Teachers.”

Science Literacy in the Second Grade
Funded Dec 6, 2020Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom! Science is an immersive experience truly but scientific literacy is just as important. Students need to have experience reading and breaking down nonfiction text. They need to practice reading other scientists' research, how to decipher diagrams, and look for context clues in a nonfiction passage. These Time For Kids magazines provide authentic literacy experiences for my students in lieu of a generic textbook. Many students are engaged in the topic due to the appeal of these articles. I will be using them also as a school to a home resource that parents will find valuable. My students will benefit greatly from this donation.”

Manzo Takes on NGSS!
Funded Oct 17, 2019I appreciate the support and recognition of all the donors to this project. Unfortunately, the Conference was canceled due to Covid-19. The funds raised will be applied to resources needed by students in the classroom or in these uncertain times resources to support distance learning. I am so fortunate to have come across Donors Choose as a priceless asset. I am so blessed to have so many parents, families, institutions, agencies, and caring people that are willing to generously donate to the education of all my students. I hope to further my growth as a teacher with professional development opportunities next year and continue providing my students with the quality education they deserve.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the NSTA Conference I had such excitement in attending was canceled. Using the funds to purchase a Science Curriculum for my students was the best decision I could make for their learning experience. I take great pride in making my classroom lessons engaging and interactive as possible. When we went remote I had anxiety and uncertainty that I would be able to continue this experiential learning model for my almost 600 students. How could I motivate them and provide them with learning opportunities over a screen? Rather than mourning the loss of the STEAM night, chicken hatching, and slime making, I found my way through remote instruction with the GENERATION GENIUS. This program was exactly the right fit for my students and families. The videos are captivating, the support resources are leveled appropriately for each age group and the DIY's were easily executed and stimulating.
The photos and videos students shared with me conveyed their love and enthusiasm for science. The technology was easy to use for families and promoted a two-way conversation about the learning process that as a teacher I highly value. Thank you for the opportunity to use this program for the rest of the year!”

Funded May 5, 2020During our remote instruction, many of my students were enthusiastic and engaged in my Science experiential curriculum. Families and children were energetically participating in the activities. The photos and videos were the highlights of my day during this lonely and distant time in school history. There were students that stood apart from the rest in their diligence and expertise. I created this project as a way to award that hard work and recognize their efforts after the unprecedented burden of continuing their education independently from me. The parents followed up and told me how much it meant to the students and how pleasantly surprised they were to receive my surprise delivery! As their teacher, I am so proud.”

Funded Mar 27, 2019After introducing Snap Circuits in my Science class two years ago I realized I needed to make them a more prominent component of my curriculum. Being able to order more kits has ensured kids the ability to work with this great resource in small groups. Sometimes I am able to use them in an After School STEM Club as reinforcement of important science concepts. Unfortunately some items were no longer available to order but the replacement items have been great learning tools to aid in the instruction and decor of our space themed classroom. Students were awed to walk into Science Lab this year! What a great way to promote scientific concepts and exploration!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018My students are thrilled to have class pets. Little do they know it's a great way to teach them so many scientific concepts and life lessons. I have always tried to incorporate living creatures into my curriculum. Students observe life cycles, adaptations, food chains as well as learning responsibility and stewardship.
Having the cricket terrarium shows them the importance of even the smallest life on earth and the foundation for larger food chains and ecosystems. They enjoy the cricket chirping in the background and are fascinated every time the crickets become a tasty meal for our anoles and bearded dragon.”

Funded Mar 10, 2018At first I was simply going to use the Snap Circuits as a fun supplement to my Fourth Grade Electricity and Magnetism unit. In years passed my students have brought them in as part of a Think Tac Toe activity we do. Many of them enjoy using the manipulatives at home. Then I had the inspiration to introduce the Snap Circuits to my After School STEM Club which has Second and Third Graders. They absolutely exploded with joy. Many had not ever heard of it before and had a blast going through the various set ups. I will definitely be purchasing more kits in the near future. Many of my students are now asking for their parents to buy them the Snap Circuits! What a great wat to promote scientific concepts and exploration!”
