My speech room is tiny. It resembles a closet. The table we currently have in the room is too long in length, too short in height, and too old. The kids and I have to play Tetris in order to get to the table. If I forget to grab something, the kids have to stand up and move away from the table so I can get out. The legs are too short and the screws have rusted together so we cannot make the table any higher. In addition, some of my students need to move when they learn. Because the table is so old, when my students brush against the underside, they get splinters. Also, a learning strategy I would like to use is writing on the table with dry-erase markers. We cannot do this with our current table because it is bumpy and sucks in the ink. Kids should not get splinters in speech therapy. They should be able to move without bumping into things. They should be able to get to the needed materials without having everyone have to get up and move out of the way. (This is why I want to have the storage sacks on the chairs.) The grant will help make the speech room a better place.
