Evergreen Future Soccer Stars!
Funded May 24, 2023I cannot thank you enough for your donations for our soccer program at Evergreen Middle School for Urban Exploration. We have students that are extremely passionate about the "beautiful game" as well as extremely passionate about their continuing development in the game through practices and playing against different opponents from different schools. This is where your donations came into effect a great deal.
From the moment they heard about the project for uniforms being funded, they grew anxious and excited as the days went by before the uniforms were delivered. Once the students were able to see, touch and feel the uniforms, an atmosphere of a team, a collective group working for the same goal was made even stronger than it had been forged throughout the school year. It gave them a sense of ownership of representing their school, their peers as well as themselves. They became more responsible with their punctuality and treatment of each other and with that a feeling of "we" was made even stronger than it was before.
Your donations allowed for scrimmages to be held against other schools, instead of just playing amongst ourselves. With this came their first glimpse of being a "student-athlete" and understanding the importance of academics in sports and vice-versa. The donations also allowed for the school to attract even more soccer players and have a bigger pool of players to choose from during tryouts. The next step as a school team is to have a set team of 20 players for the year, play more games versus others schools around district 32, as well as possibly build a middle school soccer league in district 32, so that students could go into high school already having some experience in how to navigate the student-athlete world.
Once again, I cannot thank you for your donations and for the impact they have caused in the students at Evergreen Middle School and at the school itself.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Salvador
