We do have a certain amount of technology in our classroom already, but the electronic balances we currently have (5 for the entire class) can only measure to the hundredth of a gram (0.01 g). There are times when the difference in mass is less than a tenth of a gram and so the precision of the existing balances are really not sufficient. A milligram balance would mean that students could make more accurate measurements when they are collecting data in class. We also do quite a bit of data collection using Vernier LabQuests and probeware. While we have sufficient numbers of the Labquests, each of them needs to be plugged into an individual charger, so we end up using just about every available outlet in the room when we need to charge them overnight. The two charging stations will be able to charge all eight Labquests at one time.
