My students are 10th-12th graders taking their first Advanced Placement Class. Many of my students have never taken an AP class before. Our school has a unique mix of students, some from privileged backgrounds and others from less privileged homes. Many of my student's homes were effected by the 2008 flood. Many of our upper level classes require that papers be typed and have some form of Internet background research done outside of school. Everyday I see students choose to take lower level classes because they worry they do not have the computer and Internet resources to be successful in the class, or they do not want other students to realize they do not have these tools. Our school wants to encourage all students to take at least one AP class before they graduate high school and AP Psychology is usually the class they choose.
