  • Library Beautification and Organization

    Funded Apr 24, 2025

Thank you so much for getting this items for our library. I was just in some presentations for senior projects and so many students talked about the importance of having a beautiful and cared for space. Having no windows, it's so important to add some natural elements. Thank you so much for supporting the growth and beautification of our library.”

  • School Basics

    Funded Apr 19, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting the growth of our library program. Many of our students come to the library looking to complete projects and currently, we are not equipped with supplies. Students will be thrilled that we now can offer them a range of supplies for their creative projects. Thank you for making our library a place students can thrive.”

  • Lunch Library Activities

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting the growth of our students and supplying them with materials to explore crafts, hobbies, and their own creativity. We just rolled out these materials last Friday at lunch and they were a hit. Students practiced calligraphy and were folding origami. It was great to see students come together and help others, and show them different resources to find fun fonts and patterns. Our goal is to make the library a place students can engage with non-digital activities, and this is such a great start to support students. Thank you so much for your support.”

  • Care and Hunger

    Funded Mar 12, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting the care of our students and making the library a place students come for what they need to get them through the school day. With the help of this project, students have access to supplies to enjoy their food, get a snack if they do not have enough food to get them through the rest of the school day, or supplies to support menstrual health. Students are really thankful because the wellness center is not in the main building, so they have easy access to necessities. Thank you again for supporting our students.”

  • Book Club Kits

    Funded Apr 2, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting this project. We have had so much interest in book clubs but don’t have multiple copies of many books. I know these popular titles will be books students will want to read with their peers. Thank you for supporting the growth of our library.”

  • Genre-fy Our Collection

  • Magazines in the Library

    Funded Jan 17, 2025

Thank you so much for supporting this project and getting magazines in our library. Our subscriptions have slowly made there way in, and we are so happy we have a shelf to display them. Magazines are a great way for students to explore their interests, plus we have teachers who are looking to find articles for their projects to share with students. We are offering to scan articles for students too, if they find something they want to keep, and will recycle old issues to our art department for collage projects. Thank you for expanding the publications our library offers to our students.”

Oakland High's library was closed for student use for 15 years before we reopened it in 2023. We want the library to be a comfortable, safe space for students to explore their interests. We started rebuilding our collection from scratch, and getting current books that gear toward student interests, and currently have just over one book per student, far off from the California Department of Education's recommendation of 20 books per student. As we update the space, we also want to include digital media via subscriptions or learning experiences. Maintaining our computer lab is a large priority, and we want students to access technology and materials to make an design products for projects and their own special interests. We are in need of furniture that allows for more collaboration between students, that help chunk up our space so multiple groups can use the space harmoniously.
