In my classroom, students are growing in their ability to interact with peers, engage in purposeful explorations, and are learning how to be part of a group. They are also working on developing the capacity to comfort themselves in response to overstimulating or challenging activities. My students need a cozy place to go to in order to get away from the active play of other children when they are dysregulated. I am trying to provide an area that they can use when they need to take a break. I have a bean bag chair, but I would like to provide them with a more comfy, private space. A privacy cube and giant pillows would help provide a safe environment for them to regulate their arousal level and then reengage in peer interactions and learning activities. I also have students who have difficulty with visual attention. They would benefit from the light table to help increase visual scanning, explore color and light and to help them maintain attention to various learning activities that will build math, science and language skills.
