My school site is a K-12 Independent Study school that offers an alternative to traditional schools. This site offers a truly unique educational option that includes flexibility for the highly motivated student. The instructional model is a hybrid of independent study and participation in weekly study groups. When a traditional classroom may not meet the needs of a child, we offer another academic option through the public school system. Weekly classes and labs support the California content standards-based curricula. Study groups are taught by credentialed teachers who assess student work and individualize learning goals for each student. Study groups offer direct instruction, collaborative learning, and enrichment. Many of our students come to us with additional needs in the areas of social skills, mental health, and physical health.
