  • Sensory Integration Makes Us Strong Learners

    With the year coming to a close I wanted to take a moment to personally thank each and every one of you for you kindness and generosity. You're donating this year has helped make each student grow to new heights. From the moment they received all the boxes and asked me if it was Christmas I could tell what an impact the donations would have on my year. With your help my kids were able to begin to learn how to self-regulate their sensory needs through the use of the foam roller, headphones, cushions and various chair supports. With the academic supports your donations brought us my kids began to reach new heights! Some reading for the first time others forming their own sentences independently! Watching them grow has been my greatest joy this year and I thank all of you for helping bring that joy to life.”

  • Help Young Learners With Cognitive Disabilities Thrive in Inclusive Classrooms

My students and I are so very appreciative of your support of special education and the various areas of need within their classroom settings. Because of your support, students will be able to learn and manage their sensory needs in their general education classroom through flexible seating, sensory integration and easy to follow educational supports. Each one of you is a true hero for supporting public school kids. Thank you!!!”

Flexible seating and sensory supports are must haves when working with children with special needs. As a first year teacher, I have so many ideas and goals for my students but I currently do not have the things I need to make my ideas come to fruition. With this project I will be able begin to create a tool kit for my students for many years to come. The seating options, pedals, weight belts and pencil supports will help to keep my students focused in the classroom by aiding in making them aware of their body, or where their body is in space, which is a concept many people with autism spectrum disorder and other cognitive disabilities have a hard time processing. The Sensory tools requested will help my students relieve stress and focus, as they attempt to learn in a busy general education classroom of 30 students, and the lighting and diffusing scents will assist in providing my students the calming environment students with autism spectrum disorder need. Lastly, the educational supports and sensory learning materials will help me plan for each of my students specific needs and individualized learning styles.
