Safety Patrol Field Trip to Local Police Department

Funded Mar 10, 2018

We had a wonderful time on this trip. The School Safety Patrols were greeted by two Police Officers and the Sergeant, who gave them a complete tour of the Police Department. You could feel the excitement and enthusiasm in all the students as they listened closely to what the Officers and Sergeant had to say.

We were able to view many departments within the station, but the two that stand out the most were the Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the holding cells. In the CSI unit the students observed a simulation crime scene and filled out a word search. The two Patrols who finished the word search first got a prize. The students were also allowed to enter a real holding cell where they learned that not only adults are placed there. Children their age can also be placed in a holding cell until they are taken to the juvenile detention center.

I can tell that this was a real eye opener for all the Patrols. They were all very happy to be able to go on this trip. They learned many valuable lessons about responsibility, organization, team work, fairness, and honesty. I believe that this trip will definitely help these students become men and women of integrity.”

With gratitude,
