Fighting Arctic Weather
Funded Jan 22, 2025Thank you for you generous donations to the " Fighting Artic Weather " project. The project could not be filled. As a result, there were other items that were chosen for my students. Our seventh grade classrooms needed games for indoor recess. I collaborated with my collegues and students so that our students could enjoy indoor recess. Students have been able to enjoy, chess, checkers, and uno during there recess time. There favorite game is Jenga. They created teams to play Jenga and chess. The games created a postive social environment for all students.”

Funded May 10, 2024Thank you for your generosity. Students have used the first issue of Junior Scholastics to learn about the importance of voting. They wrote an essay taking a stand on whether or not election day should be a national holiday. The next issue students are going to learn about the working conditions of Mexican American workers during the Great Depression and about those who were pioneers of the organized labor movements. They will tie this to current issues that pertain to labor issues today and how this will affect their future. The videos from Junior Scholatics have helped our special education students engage in class discussion.”

Jumping for Joy
Funded May 8, 2024Thank you for your generous gift to our students. As we began the school year our seventh-grade students were allowed to interact with each other socially during recess. Teachers have had the opportunity to play and coach students. They were also creative and made up games and rules with the recess equipment. Students have shown other students how to jump rope and play basketball, volleyball, and soccer. We have a park across the street from our school. When we have all the permission slips for a walking trip, we plan to take our students to the park for a Friday incentive day. Incentive days are a reward for following all the expectations of our school. Without your generous gift, our students would not have the equipment to play sports at the park or during recess.”

Funded Feb 27, 2022I received the games at the end of the last school year. I began using the games this year. Because of the what my students have experienced since Covid they have difficulty socializing. When Covid hit our country my current students were in 4th grade. Many of my students suffer from anxiety. Currently there are a total of about 120 7th grade students. As this year began I have used the games during recess when the weather was not suitable for students to go outside. My students were thrilled to have games to play during there recess time. They created teams to compete against. The games created a safe environment for my students to socialize and have fun. Having games at recess has encouraged other students from other rooms to borrow the games for their enjoyment. We have rotated the games through out the 7th grade. My other colleagues and I will be using the games during what we are going to call fun Friday. Each room will have a different theme. My room room of course will be the game room.
I cannot thank you enough for you generous support and thoughtfulness.”

Spring into Reading
Funded Mar 6, 2020Spring into Reading was funded shortly before our schools were shut down as a result of the pandemic. Students have enjoyed reading the novels that were funded. When schools partially opened students and families used opportunities to pick up materials as well as books. A computer library check out system was used for students to view and check out books. As students read chosen novels they created artistic images of their favorite part of the novel and shared them during our eLearning sessions. Your contributions enticed students learning and curiosity about WWII. The novels are being used this year in my class library.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you for your generous gift. With shortages of certain winter items, parents, as well as our school staff, found it difficult to find or purchase hats and gloves for our children. As the weather changed they were delighted to get hats and gloves. Many of my students walk to and from school. When we were hit with a snow storm our school did not close. Students who chose to come to school were prepared to walk to and from school because they were given hats and gloves before the storm hit. On the day that school closed students were given hats and gloves that did not have them. Thank you for contributing to the well-being of our kids.”

Funded Jan 14, 2021Thank you for your generous donation. As students came back to school it was very important that they had a healthy environment to learn in. Your donation created an environment where students felt safe. Many of them had expressed that they were afraid to come to school because of Covid. More than half of my students chose to come back and are not worried that they will get sick because they know that the air they breathe is being purified. Your donation has made coming back into the classroom less stressfull. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Escape to Freedom
Funded Oct 23, 2020Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom! Given the circumstances this year your generosity was very much appreciated! It was so important that students had a novel to read so that they were not on their Chromebooks all the time. When we met for our Google meets students were ready to discuss the variety of themes that were presented in the novel "Escape to Freedom". During Social Studies students learned about Black Codes, Emancipation Proclamation, Fugitive Slave Act, Compromise of 1850, and the 13th amendment. Students were able to make connections with the novel and historical events. Students used critical thinking skills to discuss the issues of slavery, freedom, and prejudice that have been prevalent in our country since the Civil War.”
