Pre-K Museum Showcase

Let me begin by saying, we thank you.My students and I thoroughly enjoy our new shelving units for our Museum pieces. We chose to share with you our creative works of art from our "Where We Live and Transportation" units of study. In the first unit children investigated where they and their family members live. Then children moved from inquiring and thinking critically about the places where people live to exploring how people move from place to place using vehicles and other methods of transportation. The photos we've shared with you are designed to reflect the diverse places where people live in neighborhoods across NYC. We've also created various modes of transportation that the children observe and use daily.

As we collectively chose pieces to put on display, this is what I observed and heard. "Ms. Epperson, put my house on the second shelf, please" another said, "I want mine on the bottom, I want mine next to Madison's house." This is one of the very best gifts I have ever received for my classroom community. I often find children standing by the unit sharing their thoughts about whatever is on display.

The most impressive and astonishing part of this gift is that the shelving can be adjusted as needed. Many of the pieces are at eye level which makes it easier for the children to be engaged and it creates a wealth of conversations.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Epperson
