  • Creating Kusama Crafts

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

This project was So exciting for the students! After learning about the artist Kusuma, and her unique art installations, they were inspired to create their own. We started on the backgrounds, and they worked for many class sessions on this part before I revealed that we got the t-shirts donated! They were unbelievable surprised and could not wait to get started working with the shirts.

They transferred their designed on to their shirts and took their photos of the finished instillation. These awesome posters are lining the halls of our school brightening up the entire place. The kids even get to keep their shirts, and take them home so they can always remember this awesome project and art lesson.

Thank you so much for your generosity and for supporting my students needs.”

  • Practice! Practice! Draw All About It!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I am super excited about all the art and drawing books that my class received through donations by you. As I have been working in the school for a while now I've noticed that most of the children have not developed the skills needed to draw something from memory, they often elect to trace whatever it is they want to draw. I would like for them to work more on their drawing skills so these step by step drawing books are amazing. Combining them with a dry erase board and not using paper, they are really going to excel before they even know it! Thank you so very much!”

  • Art is Messy...Help us Keep it Clean.

    Funded Jun 19, 2018

My students and I are so incredibly thankful to have received such generous donations to help us gather materials for keeping our classroom neat and clean, as well as hygienic. Last year we truly struggled with not having basic materials like paper towels, tissues, and hand soap. You know our students are asked to bring in a box of tissues and hand sanitizer to donate to their home room teacher for class use, but the humanities teacher are always forgotten, so the burden of providing such essentials always falls on us out of our own pocket. This year thanks to your donations, my students will have more than enough of what they need to make it through the year, and I would have to buy it myself! That means I can spend my money on more fun things for the classroom instead!!”

  • To Print or Not to Print!!

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

The classroom printer has been such a blessing for us! We have not only been able to print out color and black and white pictures of the students for school functions and projects. Not to mention I have been able to print out my personal lesson plans and artist works for visual aids to be displayed in the classroom. It has been so awesome to also be able to scan some students artwork so that I can have copies of some of the best works. I can use those as examples for future projects. Student work is always a better choice to show than the teacher's.

Thank you for helping our class and our future artists.”

  • "Time is Clay; Make Something."

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

I can not describe to you how much joy your donations brought to my students. For a lot of these kids, they just recently had their first experience working with clay thanks to you. When the supplies arrived everyone was super excited to use it, but we had to finish our current projects first. This heightened their excitement and anticipation for starting the clay projects. After getting demos on how to use the clay, for the various projects, many of the students squealed when they finally got to touch the clay. I was truly impressed with their creativity and skill, which shown through after the projects were completed. It was evident they truly enjoyed the medium and put forth a lot of effort! I am most excited to see how my fist grade students projects finish up. These classes made tea cups and pots, which were later potted with little succulents and cactus. As a follow up, the students will do still life project using their own creations. Then they will be returned home just in time for Mother's Day! We are all so excited and grateful for the opportunity to work and create with such a fun medium. Thank you again for your generosity and support of the arts in our little school.”

Just as students have different ways of learning in the traditional classroom, be it visual, auditorial, kinesthetic, or verbal; students in the art room have different strengths as well. It is my belief that exposure to a wide variety of art mediums is essential to tapping into the creativity of each and every one of my students. With the child's needs in mind, I believe gaining supplies for the students to work with 3D mediums is essential to their growth as artists and individuals. I am requesting modeling clay in a variety of colors as well as some commonly used clay tools. Modeling clay is very easy for the students to work with, you can achieve great detail, and it does well with not drying out before the project is finished.Sometimes we just need to build and shape with our hands to unlock our creative potential.
