Our high school educates approximately 1300 students in an urban town. As a school psychologist, I see approximately 60 students per week who seek or are referred for counseling services. Many of these students struggle with mental health disabilities to include depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, Autism, and other disabilities associated with mental health. Students who come to the office are struggling with social interaction difficulties, foster care placement, food instability, trauma experiences, are experiencing a panic episode, or are trying to process through a situation to avoid making a poor choice. These students come to the office in search of a calming reprieve to process and work through what may be going on in their life.
