Still Growing Through Distance Learning
Funded Oct 1, 2020In response to our current situation, a pandemic, teachers were asked to organize their classrooms in such a way that students would have access to their own materials. Each of my 13 students who chose to return to school were provided with a plastic paper tray. They keep their pencil box, a Math tool box and certain workbooks in that tray. My students were also fortunate to receive Primary Notebooks. Each student received 3 notebooks; they use one for Reading Response, another for Math work and the third one for Writing.
When they got to school and saw that tray on their desk, they were excited to see something new with their name on a name tag with my theme- Mickey Mouse. This material is used daily and has helped a lot for students to be able to store their supplies at their desk. Having notebooks to write in has also cut down on a lot of passing out paper and collecting paper. My students greatly appreciate the material they received; when I explained how I got it, they each wanted to make a Thank You note and send it to the donors.
My students will continue to grow academically regardless of the situation that they are currently in. Once again, Thank You for your support!”
With gratitude,

This classroom project was brought to life by Chevron and 6 other donors.Hands Up for Engagement
Funded Jan 31, 2020I am writing to Thank you for the donation you made to my project. The main item was a set of dry erase paddles that students used to write answers to a question. They mainly got to use them during Phonics, Word work and Math lessons. During a Phonics lesson, we were matching the letter to the beginning sound of a word. Students were given 2 options and to respond, they were asked to write the letter that represented the beginning sound in the given word on their paddle.
My students were actually shocked to receive such a gift. At first they didn't believe me; they kept insisting that I purchased the material myself as usual. They couldn't wait to use the dry erase paddles.
Next steps are up in the air right now due to our current situation but I am sure that a new group of students will soon benefit in the use of the dry erase paddles, the write/wipe number lines and the English learning cards. On their behalf, Thank you again for your support in enhancing their learning.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Martinez
