My school has undergone many changes throughout the past several years. Transitioning from a school that educated students in the Star of Hope program to a magnet school focused on providing an enriching health science curriculum in a community-centered way. Our campus is small and lacks adequate facilities for students to get a variety of athletic enrichment's. By beginning an archery program, it will provide an excellent opportunity for our students to show growth in a variety of ways. The model that will be taught to our students is the “The National Archery in the Schools Program". As educators, we are concerned about elevated school drop-out rates. We believe that archery can be used to improve educational performance and participation by getting our students involved in exciting school activities. Archery is known to help improve motivation, attention, behavior, and focus. These skills are vital for students to carry over into the classroom. Many of our students lack the financial resources to be able to participate in such a program. It is our goal to raise money to provide a class-set of equipment for those unable to purchase their own. It is also our goal to raise enough money to purchase the archery net that is necessary to safely conduct training exercises. By obtaining the necessary equipment, we will be able to provide our students with an additional athletic enrichment, not previously possible on our small campus.
