To Google or Not to Google - That Is the Question

Funded Jan 26, 2018

The three small rolling book carts you graciously provided are allowing print resource access for class research projects and lessons.

Dedicated reference materials racks have been created for:

State / Country/world reference books

Poetry/Author/Biography reference books

Explorers / Missions/ Native American tribes reference materials

The impact that these carts has on both teachers and students is to bring comparative collections of these resources into the classroom, instead of having students spending time out of class searching library materials one-by-one, they have at their fingertips collections of materials suited to their topic-specific needs. Frustration, in these young age groups, in trying to find resources to support their assignments can run high - often resulting in google /wikipedia searches that go unsubstantiated. Having multiple offerings, preselected and readily available, encourages students to engage in comparison and deeper more enthusiastic investigation - which is an important piece of their education objectives.

The feedback from the use of the reference carts has been enthusiastic and reminds students that the Internet is just one of many resources available to them.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Ballard
