Weather Won't Keep Us From Gardening!
Funded Nov 21, 2019Thank you for helping fund our project so quickly! Having these resources will help us to plan our garden club further for this winter and into the spring. Bringing gardening to Abbottston Elementary has been a wonderful experience for me and my students. It wouldn't be possible without your support.”

Tablets for TESOL!
Funded May 13, 2019Thank you so much for enabling my students to have more access to technology. My students were thrilled when they heard that we received 5 tablets for my classroom. They were definitely excited about being able to play games on the tablet - and were a little disappointed when I said they are solely for classwork!
These tablets enable my students to have more access to literature through reading apps, phonics activities, and research projects. My students enjoy collaborating with each other and working in teams on the tablets to complete their classwork assignments. Also, tablets allow me to assist students who are falling behind in the curriculum by easily differentiating instructional activities.
Many of my students come to the United States with very few possessions. Lack of technology access is a pertinent issue in my classroom, for technological skills are essential for success in the 21st century. Thank you for assisting me with closing this gap.”

Funded Aug 13, 2019The garden club has been flourishing! We now have over 30 kids attending weekly. This Fall we have planted carrots, turnips, lettuce, kale, and mint! My students track the growth of the vegetables every week on data sheets and learn about how to keep the vegetables alive.
Because many of our supplies was stolen last spring, this club's success would not be possible without your donations. We are currently preparing the garden to be closed for winter after our fall harvest and will learn more about gardening practices indoors. My students are already excited about what we can grow during the springtime!”

Funded Mar 18, 2019So many students at Abbottston Elementary are excited about our new garden! We had a community cares day in May where community partners and students were able to kick off our school garden. We currently have an abundance of mint and are working on growing other fresh vegetables.
Furthermore, with your resources, we were able to establish a Garden Club this school year. The Garden Club meets weekly to maintain the school garden, learn about gardening practices, and conduct experiments with plants. We already have 25 kids participating in this new club! Thank you for helping with making this possible.”

Keep Our English Language Learners Sharp!
Funded Jan 16, 2019My students received our new sharpeners, pencils, and markers today and they were absolutely thrilled! They have been frustrated for a long time about our pencil sharpener shortage, so it was definitely relieving to get these supplies for our classroom. They were also amazed to see that our new markers can write on our chalkboard! I hope that they will become a more engaging piece of instruction and student activities. Once again, I truly thank you for being willing to donate to our classroom - it makes quite a difference!”

Funded Jan 9, 2018I can not express how much of an impact you all have made on my students. Phonics is the backbone of ESOL instruction, and the phonics resources I received have made a significant impact on my PreK and Kindergarten ESOL students.
We use these kits almost every morning at the start of ESOL instruction to go over basic phonics foundations. Students love the silly songs and games that the guide provides, and are able to learn fun stories using our big picture book.
Perhaps the greatest impact I have observed from this resource is with one student in particular who I have been working with for the past year and a half. This student went from being a shy, non-verbal PreK student, to now knowing each letter and letter sound in Kindergarten.
Thank you again for giving my students more opportunities for learning!”

Flexible English Foundations!
Funded Dec 31, 2018My students were incredibly thrilled when they saw our brand new resources! They have already been using the pillows in our classroom as flexible seating during independent work time, and truly seem more comfortable in my classroom now that their work environment matches my vision. The bags I received from this project have allowed me to transport word games between classrooms and different school buildings to help my students build fluency skills. Also, they help increase student independence, for students are able to self-select their activity and complete it at a station of their choice. Lastly, the timers have been a HUGE help for our classroom transitions and maintaining student focus. They have all been on task, and very attentive to their work since receiving them.
Thank you for all you continue to do for my students!”
