To help my students find "good" books, I try to introduce them to well known authors and series books to to match their interests. Once they find their "niche" I can hardly keep those books on the shelf! With the books I'm listing in this project, my students will be able to explore all the crazy, wackiness of our school's "Seuss"eum. The museum will basically be a timeline of Dr. Seuss' writing career and will encourage my students to be both silly and serious in their own writings. It will also ensure that everyone gets a chance to read all of Dr. Seuss' funny stories. I plan to implement this project at the end of February for Read Across America Week - which includes Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2. Through the "Seuss"eum, students will have access to many books I currently do not have on my library shelf. Dr. Seuss' books cover MANY environmental and social interest in funny ways. For example, The Lorax "speaks for the trees". My hope is that once my students have read all that Dr. Seuss has to offer, they will begin asking questions to make sense of what his silly, crazy, wacky books talk about.
