My Young Entrepreneurs on the Microsoft Office Surface Go!
Funded Mar 19, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation and support for our virtual business class.
Microsoft Surface Go and docking station is just what my entrepreneurs needed. These resources came at the right time too. Our students are busy operating their virtual business, setting up sales systems for their trade show networking events; these teach tools give them more marketing opportunities to develop skills and increase online sales.
Without these resources, my students were completing the sales the outdated way using pens and invoice books. You can imagine the look on their faces when they opened the box to find their new professional resources. Having such resources is a great motivator and confidence boaster too. Since receiving our new Microsoft Surface Go, more students signed up for trade show competitions and we are ready to go!
Once again, my heart-filled thank you.”

Funded Feb 20, 2019My students are absolutely thrilled with their new heathy breakfast bar in the classroom. We set up an area in the back of the room to include the cereal dispenser, hot chocolate, oatmeal, applesauce, soup, crackers, and paper goods. It is such a great comfort to them to know they can have a hot healthy snack to get through till lunch. In just a short time I already seeing improvement in academic performance, attendance, and engagement. They now view their room as a safe space without food insecurity worries.
Our student leaders also turned the breakfast bar into hands-on learning experience to incorporate real world practices. Our breakfast bar has a set up crew, manager, assistant managers, and clean-up crew to maintain efficiency and minimal academic interference throughout the day
For those students in the class who are not as economically challenged managed to incorporate a bit of community service to ensure sustainability for our breakfast bar by bringing in snack donations and raising money to build up our inventory.
The students are thrilled by this project and are looking forward to building upon it's impact for years to come!
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support of our students!”

Funded Dec 30, 2018Thank you for all the resources and opportunities needed to become a better teacher. Financial literacy has never been more important. With the materials given to me I can now plan for both micro view of economic theory and practice. I have now text, graphs, images, and reproducibles to supplement each lesson.
In addition, with the resources and I am now learning how to incorporate more modern real world examples in all areas of mathematics. I've am already adding everything from tips to taxes to my lessons. I have been sharing my new resources with my colleagues and we are able to plan and incorporate in the areas of algebra, geometry into our business class and have learned to use the leveled texts to differentiate instruction in mathematics.
This would not be possible without dedication to financial literacy as well as your kindness, generosity, and support of NYC Public Schools .”

Funded Jan 15, 2019My students were so happy to receive all the portable washer dryer comb0 and laundry supplies. They were touched to see how many people they never met care about them and our rooting them. I am equally touched that they are rooting for their peers and the desire they have to give them this gift of access to clean clothes.
They expressed that world was a better place than they had realized. They can't wait to play it forward, being able to offer the peers the resources they need to make their hardships a little bit easier; offer a means for the basic necessities others may not have.
It's a beautiful thing to be able to help others. Thank you so much for kindness and generosity.”

Funded Dec 11, 2018Thank you for your kindness and funding for this project. I wish you all could have seen the smiles on my student's faces as we opened the boxes. They are excited and motivated about learning! These games came at a perfect time to for my entrepreneurship. We spent quite a bit of time studying sales, marketing, and elevator pitches this term.
Using Snake Oil game my students were able to demonstrate how they can pitch products while honing in on the rhetorical skills.
In my business math class, students were able to make economic decisions and journal accounting transactions while learning to play Monopoly.
In addition, using Cover Your Assets game both classes were able to become familiar with identifying assets as they use their imagination to envision themselves as successful entrepreneurs. Conducting further research on that game, my students encouraged me to reach out the Brent Beck, creator of the game. CEO of Grandpa Beck's games has graciously ordered more games for our class free of charge and even offered to come to our school as guest speaker.
Thanks to you your generosity and kindness, the funding of this project opened up even more opportunities for my students than we anticipated. Your generosity towards are new resources are opening new opportunities for my students.
Thank you.”

Funded Sep 21, 2018Thank you for your generous donation of business attire for our students. To say they were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.
My young entrepreneurs looked and felt very professional as they presented their advertising campaign at their first competition. Knowing they were properly dressed boasted their confidence. This was evident when they decided to seize opportunities outside the competition by networking with other professionals in areas, pitching their business while seeking mentors and partnerships. They even made a few a friends along the way.
The confidence gained from the new business attire trickled outside the curriculum too; a couple of students scheduled real world job interviews and although they are still waiting for their follow ups, they told me their interviews were a success!”

Funded Jun 22, 2018On behalf of our virtual enterprise firm, now named N'Idea, we the members of the Human Resource Department would like to thank you for your generous donation of motivational tokens and medal rewards, and plaques that we use recognize our employees as they achieve their various levels of success in their respective competitions throughout the year. So far we have celebrated such competitions as Employee of the Month, Elevator Pitch, Advertising and Branding Competitions. We also use the token awards to recognize such areas as creativity, helpfulness, kindness and overall big ideas.
Celebrating our company's success and accomplishments positively impacts our organization. Student Employees are now inspired to go that extra mile in a more competitive yet professional manner. By showing off our recognition awards throughout the room the younger entrepreneurship students are curious, ask questions and also want to know how they can earn their awards. We strongly believe that celebrating our employees' accomplishments leads to more productivity, increased quality of work, and longevity to our firm.
We are most looking forward to celebrating our success with family and friends after the holidays and NYC Business Plan Competition which we plan on winning. The members of the Human Resource Department we plan on recognizing each and every employee for their contributions to our company business plan. We have learned that motivating employees and maintaining high employee morale is essential to keeping productivity high which in turn leads to higher profits because students are eager to customers loyal. This is one of the reasons why we have even developed a new system of how we will recognize our employees. Some of our customer awards will include "Most Valued Customer", Most Loyal Customer, and Customer MVP.
It is going to be a celebratory year thanks to your donation!”

Entrepreneurship Students Mean Business
Funded Nov 28, 2017In my class students are trained to run and operate their own business in the classroom with various levels of employment. Throughout the year the student employees compete within a virtual network. Competitions and workshops throughout the year include the National Business Plan Competition, Ad Futures, Mini Networking Events, Branding, Salesmanship, E-Commerce Website.
The most hands on, outside the simulated business curriculum is competition is at NYC Trade Show. In order to gain competitive advantages they needed to experience real world practices and we lack many of resources needed.
Our students need promotional toys to entice potential customers and generate sales as well 15 clipboards with calculators and markers to record sales. The students' employees doubled their expected sales at the trade show. Having the right tools such as the clipboards gave them the confidence they needed to create the perfect sales pitch. The clipboards were a stylish color black with a built in calculator and store boxes for paper and pens. They truly made their jobs so much easier because they didn't have to keep running back to the company booth to drop off stacks of papers or carry bulky school calculators. The company had no trouble enticing customers to on over to booth the 6 because the students felt that they had the coolest promotional give away of fidget spinners and Kellogg's Rice Krispy Treats!
Successfully competing at the NYC Trade Show is an experience that these youngsters will never forget.”

Ms. McMahon
