  • Graduate Together

    Funded May 31, 2020

On behalf of our classroom virtual enterprise firms, named GuardianEye and N'Idea, we the members of the Human Resource Department would like to thank you for your generous donation of motivational tokens and medal rewards and certificates that we use recognize our student employees as they achieve their various levels of success in their respective competitions throughout the year.

In June the class of 2020 celebrated graduation twice via Zoom and Google Meets. One of these graduations celebrated year long accomplishments among their virtual enterprise colleagues who were formally recognized for such competitions as Employee of the Month, Elevator Pitch, Advertising and Branding Competitions. We also use the token awards to recognize such areas as creativity, helpfulness, kindness and overall big ideas.

When they left school to work remotely they thought all their accomplishments were thrown away. With your generous donations they were shown how important their accomplishments were and how they can use them for a better tomorrow as they move into their journey in life.

Thank you so much for your sponsorship”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McMahon

  • Basic Supplies for On-Task Performance

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Heart-felt thank for your kindness, generosity and boxes on boxes filled with classroom resources such as binders, calendars, buzzers and reward cards for time management and organization, my students are learning to take control of their academic success and improving their ability to focus. With this increased focus came enhanced efficiency, increased rigor, and active engagement.

Many students expressed how with the right project based supplies they are more motivated to stay focused and on on track. They have noticed that they are able to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, which has already allowed themselves to take advantage of more learning opportunities.

We are grateful for all that you have given us.”

  • Warm Winter Wishes Beyond the Season

    Funded Nov 21, 2019

A most heart-filled gratitude for your generous donation and support for my our classroom student leaders and NYC Public Education.

Providing our students with the resources to begin initiatives to boast attendance among their peers on cold morning starts will not only warm their bodies but also their heart. And mine, too. They are excited to have these resources that allow them to give back to others while encouraging educational opportunities and building character.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day that is made better when served with a smile!

    Warmest Wishes to All!”

  • Warm Winter Wishes Beyond the Season Supplies

    Funded Dec 16, 2019

Thank you so much for the generous donation of hot chocolate packets, cups, lids, spoons, stirrers! All the supplies needed for my student leaders to execute their initiatives to boost attendance in the warm winter months by offering hot warm cocoa , especially on New York City's bad weather days.

Absenteeism rises during bad weather winter months, especially when battling mass transit breakdowns and delays. My student leaders are determined to prove being in learning in school is worth the battle of the MTA.

My leaders were absolutely glowing with delight when their shipments arrived. They are now in the process of creating and executing their project plans so that everyone in the school can enjoy your warm winter wishes.”

  • Dress for Success With Confidence!

    Funded Dec 11, 2019

Thank you for your generous donation of business attire for our students. To say they were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.

My young entrepreneurs looked and felt very professional as they presented their business plans at competitions and trade shows. Knowing they were properly dressed boasted their confidence. This was evident as they demonstrated the confidence needed to hone their rhetorical skills and to take home the first place championship!

In addition, with the proper business attire, professional look and attitude they were able to seize more opportunities outside the competitions by networking with other professionals in areas, pitching their business while seeking mentors and partnerships. They even made a few new friends along the way in addition to the real world industry connections; expanding their network.

The confidence gained from the new business attire trickled outside the curriculum too; as a few students have now been scheduling real world job interviews and conference days.”

  • Mobile Stations

    Funded Dec 20, 2019

Your generous donations of mobile stations arrived and the students wasted no time putting them together. We are grateful and excited for the opportunities these resources are already bringing to the hands on learning classroom we created.

These resources allow us decrease the amount of material and time required for set-up, create opportunities for a diverse student population to have responsibility for their learning environment and in the short time we used them, they have already freed me from the time extra time it takes to pass out materials; giving me more time to help students with more difficult concepts.

The resources arrived just in time for the new semester and excitement is stirring. We thank you so much for supporting our projects and public education.”

  • Snack Bar Stock

    Funded Dec 10, 2019

My students are absolutely overcome with surprise and gratitude with their new stock for snack bar in the classroom. We set up an area in the back of the room to include a stock of quick snacks they can have when they need something on the go or as a filler between meals. It is such a great comfort to them to know they can have snack to get through till lunch. In just a short time I already seeing improvement in academic performance, attendance, and engagement. They now view their room as a safe space without food insecurity worries. This stock of snacks have come just in time for as the fall term ends and standardize testing begins.

Our student leaders also turned the snack bar into hands-on learning experience to incorporate real world practices. Our snack bar has a set up crew, manager, assistant managers, and clean-up crew to maintain efficiency and minimal academic interference throughout the day.

For those students in the class who are not as economically challenged managed to incorporate a bit of community service to ensure sustainability for our snack bar by bringing in snack donations and raising money to build up our inventory.

The students are so excited by this project and are looking forward to building upon it's impact throughout the spring term!

Once again, we thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support of our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McMahon

  • Binders to Catalog

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Our boxes arrived today and by looking at my students faces, I could tell they overjoyed with the contents of their resources and overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity.

Once they opened the buzzer lights and sounds their visionary leadership skills took over with at least 10 ways to incorporate them into their business class: start of workday whistle, shout-out sound, closing bell and the the ideas kept coming.

My hard working students wasted no time filling those pencil pouch bags with their workstation supplies. Binders for each work area department were carefully created for all their project module tasks, folders, and calendars. The card stock resources served as great dividers to ensure sustainability, as one of my young entrepreneurs said.

The marketing students fell in love with the desktop catalog display case. It was Immediately put together and displayed at their front desk reception area. One of student employees actually said "it's a shame that is Friday because now we have to wait all weekend before creating our catalog pages".

These resources are not just helping my students organize and track their business classwork; they are serving as a great motivator, bringing out their competitive edge. I look forward to the rest of the year, watching them proudly utilize all of what you have given to us through your generous donation at Donorschoose.

    We thank you.”

  • Your Cell Has a New Number!

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

In my class students are trained to run and operate their own business in the classroom. I take on the role of facilitator while the students are treated as employees to their organization. There is a management team where students must compete for the top level positions. Once the management team is in place, the student employees are broken up into various departments such as sales and marketing, finance, graphic and design, human recourse, etc. As employees in department teams, the students work all year long running their business and competing in a simulated global market.

The resources you have graciously given to us will provide them a chance to physically transform their classroom into the office. The student-led human resource department could not stop smiling when the packages came to the door. They quickly got to work setting up the mailboxes for their folders, phones, and personal supplies. They hung the calendars on the wall and quickly began filling in the boxes to create a productive month for their company in which they created.

It is such a pleasure to be able to provide them with these resources that will take them out of the classroom and into the corporate world.

My students are grateful and thankful for your support. My students thank you and I thank you. We had so many donors and match offers and feel very blessed knowing you believe in them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McMahon

  • Button Branding!

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

As part of the simulated business curriculum our students must compete in the the VEI Youth Summit Trade Show, NYC. Students of the virtual enterprise exhibit a wide range of products and tout their marketing campaigns from the opening bell until the closing bell. Student employees will race against each other to entice customers with their novelty promotional item giveaways and generate sales to compete in marketing competitions. This year my students want to create promotional buttons to brand their business as well as sell at trade shows. Thanks to your generous donation this project has now come to life!

Our student led design team has just finished creating their logo and much to their surprise our packages came to door! The eyes and hearts were filled with joy and gratitude knowing they have the resources to participate in their highly competitive competitions. Using their new button machines these students will able to learn a new craft in trade. One of the students sales member said "we have well over 1,00 buttons to make, that is over 1,000 sales". As a result, they got straight to work creating those sales pitches! This button maker and button supplies will surely keep them productive all year long!

Thank you to all the donors for this most generous donation of resources!”
